I remember all the libs kept saying that stopping aid wouldn’t help in the Ukraine conflict, and the Israel conflict.

Obviously they were lying but it is important to point it out

Somewhere I think this is all a big scheme to actually push the EU to spend more on defense instead of trying to fuck over Ukraine

Well, Brian Barletti is saying exactly that: taking USA out of NATO would free hands to Europe to intervene in Ukr while Trump can focus on China.

There is nothing meaningful that Europe can do to stop Russia in Ukraine short of starting a nuclear war. They have nothing more to give other than money and more money (which itself comes at the price of inflation and cuts to social spending, both of which are extremely bad for the political stability of Europe) and nobody in Europe wants to send their children to die for Ukraine.

The point is that the US can’t waste resources in Ukraine anymore, they need to pivot to the pacific ASAP since they themselves recognize that the window they have to challenge China is closing. The point of getting europe to pick up the tab in Ukraine is to guarantee the conflict gets frozen to be picked up later.

Now you might say Russia won’t agree to any sort of european “peacekeeping” force in Ukraine (and they shouldn’t), but that can be said about both Minsk agreements, so who knows.

USA + EU failed to even economically defeat Russia, and militarily they noticeably disarmed themselves. What US alone think they can do against China which is at least 10 times stronger than Russia in everything?

Well everything except nukes. It could be it. Fuck.

The strategy they’ll try is to goad them into a war in Taiwan to justify an economic blockade against shipping to and from China. The marines are already being trained and equipped for such. As crazy as they are they wouldn’t actually risk invading any part of mainland China.

Also China has a no first use nuclear policy, so that’s unlikely to come into play.

There is nothing meaningful that Europe can do to stop Russia in Ukraine short of starting a nuclear war.

Europe still has enough of a weapons industry and disposable proletariat to make war unprofitable for the Russian bourgeoisie

nobody in Europe wants to send their children to die for Ukraine.

Who’s gonna ask them? Europe is ran by a cabal of unelected ghouls. They can start kidnapping people from the streets, Ukraine style, and who’s gonna protest? They can barely do it now. And the “populist” right that you have correctly mentioned don’t have a way out of this mess aside from colonial plunder - as history has shown

Europe still has enough of a weapons industry

With energy prices being what they are, how long will they have any industry at all anymore?

to make war unprofitable for the Russian bourgeoisie

That’s not how this works. War is always profitable for a certain segment of the bourgeoisie. And for Russia this war in particular is not driven by immediate profit but by national security imperatives, which will not change regardless how much money and weapons Europe throws at it. But they will get their profit regardless after the war ends with all of the resources they have in the new territories.

They can start kidnapping people from the streets, Ukraine style, and who’s gonna protest?

Here is where we differ. I really don’t think they can. So far, their warmongering has been if not popular then at least ignored by most of the population because the western public hasn’t been directly affected.

When you have these far right parties that are already running on Euro-skepticism and that are positioning themselves as the more isolationist and pro-peace option (because the left has utterly failed to provide a pro-peace alternative and has stupidly left that rhetorical space open for the far right to take up), it would be political suicide for the already deeply unpopular liberal centrist parties to get directly involved in such a distant war.

They would have to manufacture consent on a scale orders of magnitude larger than what they already have. They would need some kind of major false flag attack, possibly some staged nuclear provocation by the Ukrainians, or some direct retaliation by Russia to an extreme provocation from the West, but Russia is smart enough to know not to give them that pretext.

Even then i have doubts they would be able to mobilize people in the same way that Ukraine has done, where there were years and years of extreme nationalist propaganda preparing the public for it.

The Ukrainians at least are fighting because they believe that doing so will get them into the promised land of EU and NATO, which has been sold to them as a paradise that would make them all wealthy and prosperous and free. What would the Europeans even be fighting for? The average western European is just not like the average Ukrainian. And it doesn’t appear as if the Poles or the Romanians are very enthusiastic about becoming the next Ukraine.

Russia already defeated the best and largest army the collective West was able to put together in Europe. No matter how much they may want to, the Europeans won’t be able to conjure a whole other army out of a hat with their arsenals as emptied as they now are, with their economy in crisis, and with the US pulling out.

I think this is really dangerous. Ineeed nobody will ask them… but worst of that: nobody is saying anything. As this continues like that, in France we will be in direct war with Russia and we will notice the day we receive the conscription call.
The stupidity of the so called “left” in Europe (and in France in particular) is out of what is humanly belieable.

God knows anymore. Sometimes I think the handlers are getting free reign under Trump but other times it could easily just be Trump being a pissbaby that’s driving his policy manoeuvres.

Probably some of both. Gangster state style stuff, where it’s not all explicitly laid out and done as procedure, but it’s still trending toward certain kinds of goals (such as the personal enrichment of those involved, and the attempted maintenance and expansion of the empire).

That’s what I think as well, and I expect Trump will use this as an excuse to pull troops out of the EU. I really do think the US is now seeing NATO as being more of a liability. Without NATO, the EU will still be entirely dependent on the US for the military industry, but there won’t be any obligations on the part of the US. What that’s going to result in is a panic in the EU and them dumping huge amounts of money into defense contracts buys weapons from the US.

If it was Biden i would say it’s both, but with how the new administration seemingly don’t give a shit about pretending Europe matters anymore it’s probably just cutting costs.
