The Democratic side is controlled opposition. They’re pretending to be against the things that are happening while they’re rich asses are lining up to rake in the cash.

Right now the Gov’t led by Trump is attempting to overthrow Birthright citizenship by bringing three separate cases to the SCOTUS, stated that they’ll keep the pressure of tariffs on Canada until they’re absorbed as the 51st State, and about to declare war on illegal immigration to gain wartime powers for ‘deporting’ dissenters and illegal immigrants.

WTF are democrats keeping the gov’t funded at a moment like this? Shut it all down, hard reset, and use these topics as why and how the Rs and tRump aren’t fit to hold office.

Edit: funding them is being complicit!

It’s like he wakes up in the morning and asks himself “How can I be as weak as possible?” Them going back on what they said yesterday about stopping the bill until Republicans negotiate makes them look even weaker than if they’d just let it through straight away.

If the government shuts down there will literally be no one to slow trump down. They’ll be at home.

You ask “but if the government employees are at home who will do trumps dirty work?”

    Answer “doge”

Answer "whoever else decides to join Trump "

At least with the government funded the employees have a chance to slow something down. Think it can’t get worse? Send the employees (government workers) home and watch.

Listen to them cry “What can we do for you sir? I’m sorry Dear Leader! I love you! Mr Johnson let’s see your johnson, we can polish it for you, we’ll do it live on national TV!”

Who a government shutdown would hurt and what difference it would make are certainly up for debate. A lot of knee-jerk reactions on here…but genuinely, what do y’all think is going to be accomplished by shutting down the government?

For one, non-voters would suddenly a Republican-lead Congress fail to fund the government.

Secondly, it throws a spanner in the DOGE arguments of wasteful spending, because they wouldn’t be spending at all and people would be negatively impacted by it.

Lastly, the “it would give Trump all the power” argument sucks, because he already has it. Congress isn’t (openly) fighting his abuse of EOs, they’re effectively allow him to be a dictator. A tangerine tyrant, if you will.

Your first statement is questionable, voters decidedly punished Republicans for shutting down the government as the minority party in the past. I think a shutdown would give Trump the cover to blame everything that’s about to go wrong with the economy on the Democrats, and I don’t think it’s a good idea.
