9am to 9pm 6 days a week. I’ve done similar in the US, but for a month or two due to staff shortage. Fuck that as a permanent schedule.

Man, sometimes when I read things like that, I realize how lucky I’ve been this whole time. Corps are just out of control.

Overtimes only for hourly workers. A lot of people doing this are on salary and don’t get anything extra for this schedule besides not being fired.

Aren’t companies always in a “growth phase”?.. What you’re telling sounds like extreme exploitation to me

                  Don’t jump to conclusions here

I’m trying to, but then you immediately say stuff like this:

Unlimited PTO and they mean it.

No, obviously they don’t mean it. This is calculated propaganda. Just try actually taking unlimited time off, of course that won’t go well. The calculation by the company is that the employees, out of loyalty, will take less time off than if they would give a generous, fixed amount, that actually has to be used. And it seems like in case of your SO, it is working perfectly, since she’s not taking time off.

This all really sounds incredibly calculated by the company. I even believe that her bosses believe they’re being nice, but the actual result if you look at it is the not-taking-time-off, which is perfectly in the interest of the company.

I don’t presume to criticize what you’re doing or dismiss your perspective, I’m just saying how it looks to me from what you’re saying. And for me it looks like fake virtue. Maybe I’m too cynical, certainly possible. I assure you, I have no ill intent here.

2020 was hell for me. 6AM-9:30PM 3 or four days a week. 10 hours the other 4-5 days. It was the best year I’ve ever had financially though.

I finally found someone and she just sits and watches tv all day. I couldn’t be happier. She’s always on time, only calls out for real shit, considers work a break from farming.

      It’s been wonderful.

In healthcare, in the US. I’ve had to do this. Last year, I spent 6 months doing it.

You really do wish you were dead.

That’s been my average week for about a year now. Couldn’t pay my bills if I didn’t pick up the OT. Also healthcare

So ‘moderate’ 996 work culture is okay?
Also, this is an article from 2021; has anything changed since then?
