On Friday the Senate passed a budget sending an additional $500 million to ICE, bringing their total budget up to nearly $10 billion. Detention Watch Network’s statement outlines the strong likelihood of devastating consequences to follow.
The government is stealing these funds from the public in order to commit violence against immigrant communities, while defunding essential services including housing, healthcare, infrastructure, and food assistance. The bill awards unprecedented authority to the executive branch to continue its criminal agenda unchecked by congress.
While Chuck Schumer and the other Democrats who voted with Trump would like us to believe that they didn’t have a choice and that this was somehow the better outcome, we know that everyone—whether they are sitting on one of the most powerful governing bodies in the world or serving in any other position—always has a choice, and a responsibility, not to comply.
And white moderates wonder why so many adults don’t see the point in voting.

The two-party division was in disruption as the US Capitalist class are reforming their coalitions for stance on social issues. The report that a Democrat support a Republican or vice versa should not be that surprising. I may need to read more on the bill to know more about the case.
