Broke timestamps. Everywhere. New replies will show “10 hrs” while the original comment will show “18 mins”.
When viewing posts I see tons of phantom comments that seemingly have nothing to do with the post or are replying to something when they appear at the top level. Navigating to the post in a web browser shows dozens more comments (not from users I’ve blocked or anything).
Formatting of content across posts and comments doesn’t match what the site does when I view it in the browser.
Thanks to the Memmy dev and any contributors, but broken software is broken software.
So, what’s the best alternative these days?
I use Voyager or Jerboa, pretty much half and half
Connect has been perfect for over 8 months so far! YMMV.
Voyager is becoming the leader, is FOSS and actively developed by a large community. I also like Arctic which is developed by a single person but is really nice as well and has iOS notifications.
I gave up on memmy months ago because it was randomly crashing. The release schedule even back then was once a month at best.
I switched to the voyager “native” app (not the pwa) and it has been absolutely flawless with lots of updates.
I’m using Voyager, it’s almost perfect
I’m commenting from Voyager now. Much better than it was a few months ago!
Voyager is almost perfect, I only wish it had an iPad landscape-optimized interface (like Arctic).
I think this also might be the only iOS app that lets you view mod reports as well. I’m all about Voyager these days!
Arctic was the first iOS app to get mod features, voyager wasn’t far behind though.
I think lemmios was the first, but its development has died down.
Voyager. If only it had notifications.
I’ve truly loved Avelon and it seems to have the best native gif support of any app I’ve used, but I’m pretty sure the dev has abandoned it too ☹️
I use Eternity myself, it was the best option for me after I dropped Liftoff due to its lack of support :)
Eternity seems abandoned too
Thunder and Arctic are my go-to’s. Thunder because it looks different than the rest of the apps that try to emulate Apollo, and Arctic because it can embed and play videos/gifs from inside the app.
Everyone is saying Voyager and Arctic, which is absolutely deserved, they are amazing apps. But I just wanted to say Mlem has also become really great.
Mlem has been my go to
Am I the only one using Boost?
I am a Booster as well.
I’m on iOS so no boost for me :/
I moved from memmy to voyager and honestly it is a far better app. Memmy was too buggy and the dev basically abandoned it.
Isn’t Voyager like, just a rebranding of Memmy? I feel like I remember seeing “Download the Voyager App” inside of my Memmy webapp.
Definitely not. It’s not the same at all.
That was already solved in the other replies, it was WefWef instead of Memmy.
No, Voyager took all its cues initially from Apollo the Reddit app. No idea what memmy was doing 🤷
Nah it’s developed by a different person. I believe the developer of Memmy said that voyager was his favorite alternative and recommended people switch to it when they had issues with Memmy.
Voyager was initially called wefwef and was as only a WPA / web app. It’s still available as web app but also has an AppStore version which is really nice as you can keep the same interface on any device you use.
There are a lot of similarities, I don’t think it is a rebranding of Memmy.
Jerboa has a came a long way
Isn’t that an android only app?
Yes i just saw people reccomending android ones .
I’ve been using Mlem quite happily.
Hello fellow Mlemer.
It’s my backup app. I wish it had a markdown editor, though.
I bounce between Thunder, Voyager, and Arctic. I can’t make a final decision.
I’m currently using Memmy and having no issues at all
I’m also using Memmy and I’m enjoying it so far.
The only problems I’m having is when someone replies directly to one of my messages. I don’t know why but I’m often not able to reply unless I load all the comments.
Also deleting the unread replies is complicated.
I might switch in the future but I’d just prefer if these issues were solved 😅
Sync for Lemmy
Same here. Just got some big bugfixes.
