    I never liked the argument/idea that the economy will regulate itself, since it relies on everyone acting perfectly in their own self-interest, only thinking about each transaction in isolation.

    But people do nice things for other people all the time (charity, community service, favors, etc), some people will do seemingly nice things in order to secure a bigger benefit in the future (operating at a loss), and some people will take advantage of others’ niceness.

      It also ignores that there are asymmetrical interactions in society. Sure, you might wish the costs of housing was lower, but you can’t opt out of housing.

        Technically this means that providing free high quality government housing is capitalist, as it subjects private housing to proper free market pressures

    Fast food is about the dumbest thing to call out in this meme. LOL, especially a Baconator.

    “I keep paying for luxuries and the price keeps going up?! What am I to do?! I keep getting fatter and fatter and I have no idea how it’s happening!”

    One could, I dunno, make a sammich the night before work? You can’t hardly make something at home that’s less healthy than fast food. And you certainly can’t make something more expensive. (Unless you’re hell bent to do so.)

    If people keep paying more and more, the hell you expect these companies to do? Of course they’ll continue raising prices. This is Capitalism 101. Problem with the capitalism haters is that they’re not fulfilling their side of the equation. Stop encouraging bad behavior and then wringing you’re fucking hands as to why it continues. Jesus.

    This meme would be on target if it was calling out housing costs. That’s where we (particularly the youth) are getting fucked with no recourse. That’s where capitalism is fucking us. That’s where we need guardrails. And we need them yesterday.

    </old_man_rant>

    (Or did I miss the joke? Always possible I’m an idiot. Probably approaching certainty.)
