I wonder if the effect can be fully explained by diet or behavior such a smoking and drinking or if there’s some other factor at play.
When I was unemployed, I felt pretty negative about myself - in ways that I can well imagine would have shortened my life
I’m sure environment itself factors in as well. Less affluent = more pollution, noise & crime.
I mean, I am happy the study was done, but the results are not surprising. Why was this news worthy?
“Our society is disregarding people to the degree that many are experiencing 10-20% less duration of life.”
YAWN. People are dying? But the people dying aren’t me? Who cares! /s
You seem pleasant and highly empathetic. /s
Woah, where is the hate coming from? Of course I feel bad for these people. I’m just confused because reporting on this is like reporting “Drinking nuclear waste shortens your life”. Like, yeah, we know.
I must have been tired, not sure why I was aggressive, my bad.
Perhaps not the fact itself, but the report. Folks that are paying attention know it, but what about people that are insulated from it, or just won’t believe you?
“We need action to fix this issue” holds more water when you have a report to back it up, over citing common sense or anecdotes.
