It’s entered the dictionary IIRC, meaning a fridge because the brand name became like the word for it in everyday use. Like sopalin for example.

Yeah, we have a few in our town, and most of them have a custom paint/sticker job it seems. My kids think they’re cool, I think they look stupid and are too expensive to be practical in any way.
They’re way bigger than I expected from the photos.

Yeah, it’s legal to purchase and own a Cybertruck in Europe.
You just can’t legally drive it on public roads, because it hasn’t passed the safety tests.
They haven’t even attempted, because it is evident that it will fail. So, they have not introduced the vehicle for sale in Europe
If you see one, it’s probably a gimmick showcase thing. They did tour a demo model around for tv stations earlier this year, but I’m not sure what the purpose was. It was basically mocked everywhere it went.
It’s possible and perfectly legal to import it yourself and then… put it in a garage or drive around your mansion all day long if you want.
Man I really feel like I am part of the like 1% of people who think the cyber truck looks super cool. I understand it’s a POS but it just looks so cool to me. I would put bright yellow EL Wire on all the angles to make it more cyberpunk looking. God I wish this car and the company didn’t suck.
I honestly really don’t get it. My first thought at normal SUVs is already “wow, that is so ugly, why would anyone buy that?” and the cybertruck is to SUVs like those are to regular cars.
I 100% agree. I hate SUVs and I honestly don’t understand why they’re so popular. I also think trucks look dumb and I hate driving and riding in them. A cybertruck is a bad mix of both SUVs and trucks.
And I’m tall, so I should like SUVs and trucks from what I understand, but I honestly prefer small sedans and sports cars. We have a sedan and a minivan (have 3 kids), and my wife and I both want to downsize the minivan because we just don’t like sitting up that high.
I like that it’s different and not just “Super Generic Truck 2024 Edition”. Remember the Plymouth Prowlar? That thing was wacky looking and I think it only came in purple. I’m paraphrasing the commercial but it went something like: “It’s not for everyone, is it?” “That’s kinda the point.” I LIKE that.
When you try to make something for everyone, you end up making it for no one.
But damn if the Cyber truck isn’t a huge piece of shit made by a horrible company which ruins any positivity it might otherwise have.
There’s one in town with a black wrap with reflective blue 2 inch stripes on all the edges. Looks wonderfully Tron styled. But for me nothing will hide the god awful shape of it. Looks like a 6yo drew a Pontiac Aztec on graph paper. One thing I really do like is the style of the tires. Apparently the rubber is shit and they only last a few thousand miles, but I dig the blocky knobs around the outside. I wonder the CTs will look with a normal tire since I doubt owners are going to pay a premium for those POSs

Yep. I’d never buy it since that would support Tesla, and I would never buy because it has lots of issues. But I love how it looks. I wish some other company borrows the style and makes an actually good car with it.
What makes them look really bad to me is the matte metal look. Very industrial kitchen.

Yeah, the ones with stickers or paint look a lot better than the regular stainless steel ones. I still think they look dumb, but it definitely improves things a lot.
Same here, I have always thought it looks neat and wanted one but it sucks that they’re made poorly and have so many issues. I really feel like a lot of people just hate on it cause it’s popular to do and elon bad (not that I’m a big elon fan) oh well

I’m going to get my deposit back for the CT, I still think it’s cool but I don’t think it will ever be sold in Europe and Musk has just ruined the reputation of Tesla. I’m also looking for a home battery and although the Powerwall 3 looks great, I’m going to try and find an alternative, just because of Elon.
If that’s really on there, that’s fucking funny and I’m glad that person can laugh at themselves.
Frigidaire makes trash HVAC equipment and the company is so poorly managed in surprised they don’t just call themselves Maytag at this point
I just threw away a Frigidaire window unit that looked really cool but it barely worked after 2 years and they just deleted it from their smart control app - like straight up removed it as I was using it and was like “oh so sorry not supported anymore!”
I own a microwave by them and I am looking to replace it now, even though it works reasonably well. Fuck Frigidaire right in their stupid fucking asses.
I wouldn’t go buy a new microwave just to spite the brand. For one, Frigidaire isn’t significantly less reliable than the other major appliance brands - they have noticeably worse “fit and finish” in their build quality (I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Frigidaire Pro badge that was on straight, ever. Their french door freezer doors will not line up with even perfectly adjusted fridge section doors. etc.) but also typically a lower price point. Just about all appliance companies make some shit-boxes - from stats I’ve tracked at work, the common consumer brands in the US have roughly 10% failure rate for the first year, and about 30% failure rate over 5 years. Those rates stay pretty consistent between brands (as soon as someone looks like they are going to upset the balance, they release a fancy new design for an ice maker or something that just shits all over the bed and has to be 'service-bulletin’ed to consumer reports hell and the stats wander back into line).
Basically, if the thing is working now, I’d keep it until either it doesn’t work or you just really want/need some feature it doesn’t have. Buying a new appliance is just going to be giving money to a different-but-still-shitty brand.
I love how much shade this throws at Maytag - the brand that will always be the best in the eyes of idiot boomers no matter how obviously trash they become.
Maytag makes decent dishwashers and refrigerators, at least compared to the rest of the crap on the market. I assume Frigidaire is the same since I think it’s basically the same company.
Maytag and Frigidaire are separate (Frigidaire is part of Electrolux family, Maytag is part of Whirlpool, as is KitchenAid). We hardly carry Maytag kitchen appliances because most of them are just re-skinned Whirlpool products with some extra dollary-do’s tacked on for the name (and especially in dishwashers, the KA is just better if you want Wpl family stuff). They aren’t bad, but when you can get a KA for a tiny amount more and get more features, or get the whirlpool for significantly less with nearly the same features…
Their laundry (which is where their name still carries a ton of weight with hillbillies that remember their commercials from the late 90s) is absolute hot garbage.
Sounds like white labeling the cybertruck would be a great cultural fit for them.
