I’ll note that in the US, their urban area definition includes a lot of outlying and substantially unpopulated areas which fall within county boundaries; these areas tend to show up as having long travel times to services.
Tbh I come from a 15min city and it is pretty great. My entire childhood I planned everything by bike, 15 min.
Walking to elementary school, cycling to highschool, going to different sports locations, cinema, train to the city, village to some friends, shopping at an organic market (conventional ones are very nearby).
This is a smaller city in Germany, peripheral to a large one. So nothing crazy really.
Every city I checked in the US on here extends its range to the whole county for some reason, making otherwise traversable cities dark red until you select them and see how it is incorporating areas not even associated with that city into consideration.
I see that is mentioned but it really hurts the usability of the site.
