The key is that both of them are basically reading their scripts. Walz because he is inexperienced and vance because he has clearly been yelled at for saying stuff his orange overlord does not like. But they are both making it a point to key in on one or two words the other person said to make it sound like they are listening or whatever.
Hosting costs money. Theoretically (some) cryptocurrency can obfuscate that but… there is a reason graph problems got really popular again for a little bit.
But domain names also cost money. They also need to be registered to a person/company.
That is why a lot of torrent sites end up getting their domain stolen.
Also, all of this ignores the actual developers. But that is par for the course when it comes to discussing liability with open source projects.

Well. The current conflict with Israel only really goes back about 80-ish years. And there are strong arguments that the current iranian proxy wars are a different conflict with different root causes but… yeah.
The region itself? Most of that goes back to when The West decided to redraw borders with no real logic other than guaranteeing cyclic wars of ethnic cleansing between warlord. I want to say that is more 150-ish years, but I genuinely forget. So it very well could be centuries in that regard.

Also: it isn’t like that would stop this kind of legal action. MS/Github are barely a factor. It is the devs themselves getting the “hey, stop it or we’ll turn you into indentured servants” letters.

Nobody should ever play the first Lords of the Fallen. Probably one of the worst non-indie Souls games (and I played Code Vein…) with mediocre world building and even worse boss fights. Iron Pineapple has a great video where he basically tears into it and points out why it is bad.
Part of it is the same “human speech” aspects that have plagued NLP work over the past few years. Nobody (except the poor postdoctoral bastard who is running the paper farm for their boss) actually speaks in the same way that scholarly articles are written because… that should be obvious.
This combines with the decades of work by right wing fascists to vilify intellectuals and academia. If you have ever seen (or written) a comment that boils down to “This youtuber sounds smug” or “They are presenting their opinion as fact” then you see why people prefer “natural human speech” over actual authoritatively researched and tested statements.
And… while not all pay to publish journals are trash, I feel confident saying that most are. And filtering those can be shockingly hard by design.
But the big one? Most of the owners of the various journals are REALLY fucking litigious and will go scorched earth on anyone who is using their work (because Elsevier et al own your work) to train a model.
I mean… everyone contributing all those super useful posts that everyone thinks are the only authoritative sources of information on the internet are doing exactly that.
Every time you provide some tech support or a bit of advice? You are providing reddit shareholders’ money.

Not sure on the technicals but lots of rate limiting to prevent PDS from being able to get everything and outright shenanigans to make posts not appear in the old view which also prevents PDS from deleting them. Not to mention un-deleting comments after a while (even if you use the option to edit before deleting).
So run it early and run it often. And then just delete the account for the rest.
