Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!
Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!
Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.
So, how’s it going?
Blackberry season here on the West Coast! Looks like we’ll be eating Blackberry and Apple jelly for a while. Yum.
I had blackberry and apple shortcake a few weeks back…fresh blackberry is really nice, hate the vines though.
Yum!!!
Wow that sounds amazing!
Any car people here?
So, I’ve got a 2015 Ford Kuga, and it’s electronics are going haywire. Errors about Hill start not available, City Stop Assist not available, front camera not available (I’m not sure it has one?), AWD overheating (when car only just turned on), and so on. These all came on all of a sudden.
Is there anything that a not-car person like myself can do to troubleshoot? Or at least work out whether this is a software issue needing to be solved by a Ford dealer, or I can just take it to any old mechanic?
Sell the POS, it’s a race between the electrics and the transmission to see what bricks the car first. Unless it’s a diesel, in which case the engine is also a strong contender.
My guess to the cause of the problem would be corrosion somewhere in the wiring.
Haha we ended up with the car through a Great Family Car Swap, swapping two other cars to get one that could fit three of our existing car seats side by side.
I guess if wiring is the issue, an auto electrician might be able to sort it without needing to go to the Ford dealer (we had it serviced at Ford one time, one time, because it was impressed on us that it was important to get the software updates. But the bill made me rethink how important software updates are).
Car dealers are thieves, always have been. At that age, you’ll probably be better off at an independent mechanic, although fault finding on a vehicle like that can be pretty intense.
I was under the impression only the authorised Ford people would have access to software updates if that was the issue. I’ll check in the the local auto electrician to see if they think they can sort it.
Did you log out and log back in?
If that doesn’t work, then power cycle it.
I have no idea, but maybe disconnecting the battery for a hard reset is worth a try (total stab in the dark, though!)
Yeah I’ll give this a go and see if it helps, but I don’t like the chances 😆
