I really like The Clash. Their politics are decent, but their music is amazing.
Do folks have any recommendations for who else to listen to? I’m open to most genres, and found Curtis Mayfield to be probably my second favorite artist. Thanks!
Boards of Canada and Be Svendsen are my faves
Thanks!
The Coup
Thanks, the cover art has my attention already!
Bambu. Top tracks: Chairman Mao, Upset the Setup, Intifada, Welcome to the Party, Steal for a Meal. All of his tracks hit hard but those are my favorite ones.
Thanks! Added to my list. :)
rubber bands are pretty good, useful for so much stuff.
So overlooked! :D
Thanks!

personal 5/5s. if you’re looking for stuff to listen too this is a good place to look
I like Death Grips, it’s like a portal into American psychosis for me (not from USA). Might be stupid, willing to accept being called stupid for saying this but I do feel like they were trailblazers for the new punk sound. SOAD always tickles the right spot for me, soundgarden is cute too.
Nice, I’ll have to check them out!
Mewithoutyou
Thanks!
Sure thing! They’re my most listened band recently - posthardcore and kind of experimental. Lots of really dense philosophizing and referential lyrics.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor is a great band
Thanks!
I’ll list a few tracks/albums I’ve been listening to recently or that I really liked in the past:
- Yellow River by the Chinese band Black Kirin. Their whole National Trauma album is great too.
- Dana-dan by the Indian band Bloodywood. I don’t know about their politics but this song goes hard.
- The albums HOPE LEFT ME, The Unending Need For Perpetual Motion and Hopeless & Unending by the Brazilian comrade Astrophysics are absolutely amazing.
- If you’re into barber beats, anything from modest by default is great. I can recommend OPIUM ROAD, PERMACULTURE and The Curse of Colonialism Series. (All album covers go super hard)
Awesome, thanks for all the recommendations!
