Summary
A 30-year study published in Nature Medicine found that eating a primarily plant-based diet with minimal processed food significantly increases the chances of reaching age 70 without chronic diseases.
Researchers analyzed over 105,000 people’s diets and found that less than 10% achieved “healthy aging.”
Diets rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low in processed meats—like the Mediterranean and Alternative Healthy Eating Index diets—showed the strongest benefits.
Experts emphasize combining healthy eating with exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, and avoiding smoking.
Correlation != Causation and all that… People who eat “healthy” probably take better care of themselves in other ways. My mom for example, ate very healthy, was active, never developed chronic disease, just got cancer and died all of a sudden.
Too late.
I’m curious as to why the study didn’t mention waffles. I’m going to assume they are ok and carry on.
Plant based, whole grain, low sugar waffles and you’re good.
So my diet of hot dogs and canned chili is a no go? Some studies shouldn’t be done!!!
Send 'em my way, I do not want to do this shit til I’m 70
