One of the cool parts about being a legislator is the ability to draft laws directing or forbidding this exact behavior.
Calls to the intelligence agencies to stop can only accomplish something if they decide to use their discretion, the same thing that let them go this route in the first place, to change their operations. General counsel and internal lawyers have already approved these actions. Laws need to change or this won’t.
Why is this being looked at from the angle of “law enforcement shouldn’t be buying this information” instead of “companies shouldn’t be selling this information”?
