The driver was arrested and questioned but has not yet been charged. An investigation is ongoing.

The shooting took place at around 3 a.m. Sunday as the two men were riding the bus in Miami Gardens, according to the city’s police department.

Miami-Dade bus drivers are not allowed to be armed while on the job, according to Deborah Souverain, a spokesperson for the county’s Transportation and Public Works Department.

That’s less a legal issue and more of an employment issue.

If the situation was justified, losing his job beats the alternative possibility. If it was not justified losing his job is going to be the least of his issues.

It’s not illegal for him to have a gun. It was his employer who had a rule against it. In Florida you can conceal carry with NO permit as long as you are legally allowed to own a firearm.
