I’m drawn to places like Minnesota and Chicago, but lower cost of living might be my only realistic options with the economy and the helldebt my ex saddled me with.
I’m just looking to teach like high school math in a place where I can afford a one bedroom without roommates. Somewhere I could hop on public transport to pick up my T prescription, or even have it delivered. Where I can be stealth but also it not really matter whether I am or not.
Where should I go?
FWIW, I have a trans friend who moved to Buffalo, NY for almost this exact reason. Trans friendly, cheap, & good public transit (by USA standards).
Maybe a mid-sized city in a deep blue state. Metros will be more expensive and more progressive, and rural towns will be cheaper and more conservative. So you might try your luck with the purple in between. While the environment would be more of a mixed bag than, I don’t know, San Francisco or something, the state governments would be able to be counted on at least to be consistent.
You could try Philadelphia. They need teachers, the public transit is decent (but not amazing), housing has been below average for a long time, and the medical situation is really good. Most people are accepting and don’t really bother each other, unless you’re in South Philly by the stadiums or in some of the gang turf areas, but those aren’t the majority of the city. I lived there for a while and enjoyed it. Also Jefferson Health is amazing when it comes to tranagender care, and there are several places like the Mazzoni Center that make it ok there. The only issue is that the state is purple and Philly is blue, but the state legislature is definitely red. You never know what nonsense might come up next.
If you don’t mind snow and cold, Duluth MN is great and as affordable of a smaller city as you’ll find anywhere, in a blue state with trans protections and ready access to Planned Parenthood. And a decent economic/employment situation.

Realistically I’m probably not getting my feet of the ground without a sugar daddy, but being homeless in a blue state is probably better than being housed here.
I… don’t think there’s a lot of sheep. The area isn’t great for farming in general.
Being homeless anywhere is insanely difficult and dangerous (and expensive) and I don’t suggest it even at fairly significant cost.
I’m tempted to offer you to come stay with me and my partner in northern WI. We’re in a small, very liberal town also on the big lake and have an open room that we’re looking to share with a trans person in need. There are no sheep that I know of, but there’s alpacas nearby!
