    Dental bullshit

I let the dental receptionist know due to a constantly recurring tooth infection I needed enough antibiotics to last until my appointment in just under a month.

Script gets sent directly to pharmacy without letting me speak to the dentist - go to pick it up and it’s only 5 days worth. I only realised on pickup so there wasn’t enough time to call them.

I’m going to be ringing them in the morning and then exploring my other options if need be but already know this is going to be a clusterfuck

You might have to keep going back to them, and it may not be their fault (although they should have told you when you made the request). When I had the finger infection the doctor said new govt. regulations mean they are not allowed to order a repeat on antibiotics, even if they know you are going to need more than one pack.

Yeah, I’m keenly aware of antibiotic stewardship 😣

I wasn’t aware of the new guidelines so fingers crossed that’s the only issue. I’m hoping that I might be able to get a pack each 5 days without a fight…

This isn’t ideal for me either. But unfortunately due to being immunocompromised and having already had a root canal the infection roars right back every time I finish. Starts spreading into my jaw and neck.

I’m just trying to contain it until I can get the extraction so I don’t end up in hospital with sepsis.

I don’t know if you can still do this but it’s worth a try, if you have a regular GP ask them for antibiotics. That’s what I did when I had abscesses before I got my wisdom teeth out.
