- originally I had the text read “Commiefornia” or “Commiefornia Republic” but that’s too meme-y; I wanted an unironic take on what the flag of a hypothetical communist state of California would look like
- changed the white to gold because it’s the golden state, also communism (duh)
- I just copied the red and gold hues from China’s flag because they look good together, but that might be too derivative
- The hammer and sickle is more akin to the Soviet version, I just grabbed an svg from the internet
- changed the bear’s dark brown to black and the light brown to a different dark brown. looks sicker that way. also made the text black
- simplified the grass patch to be one solid color because it’s cleaner
as a bonus here’s my original hand-drawn “Commiefornia” sketch. I was too lazy to detail the bear but I liked it enough to create the vector version seen above
I like the hand drawn one because the bear and grass being flat, vibes better with the rest of the flag. Overall pretty sick.
Why does the bear have only one head 🤔?
