So you’ll find the users of those other instances are simply insufferable. I’ve ventured out a few times, usually to mander.xyz because they don’t defederate from anybody, and I always quickly come back here. I find that the other coms aren’t worth the extra heartburn.

That would be because we aren’t federated with lemmy.world. I believe lemmy.world themselves didn’t want their communities to be available on Hexbear (giving us the “preemptive last resort” meme), but Hexbear users in turn don’t really care for much of the userbase of lemmy.world.
