Sometimes when I’m in the mood to chastise myself I log on to LinkedIn and read whatever radioactive garbage gets posted there. Like, you cannot convince me these people are real.
I had a very interesting and even emotional party meeting today and I must say combined with the recent increases in strikes and protests it really re-ignited some fire inside of me and I feel ready to continue fighting
This system will go down
I can’t help but notice how many MCU movies have CIA agents that are causing all the problems who then just kinda walk off like nothing happened.
I remade. I’m back hello hello 同志们
你好同志!
Has anyone seen “The Great Ambition” movie?
I spent the entire day trying to find a torrent for it, and I did find an Italian version, but no subtitles, no English version, nothing. At this point I either give up watching it, or watch the Italian version with a live translator.
I see one Italian Blu-ray rip for that with Italian PGS subtitles. It’s on a pt. It would be possible to ocr the Italian subs then use a translation service to get an imperfect but perhaps serviceable result. I know subtitle edit can do ocr and translate via google for free with lesser results. Otherwise you could ocr, chop into smaller files and feed them to deepl which may give better results.
Thanks for the tip, I’ll try my best.
Well, holiday is over. Back to striking tomorrow, and 1st of May on Thursday!
The trend of countries deporting migrants protesting has me worried, as a migrant myself who is politically active. It’s not happening here but still. It might.
I make a su*cide joke here please forgive me. Also mention of queerphobia.
Ever hear something so stupid you just wanna die? Like you just wanna get vaporised off the face of the planet so that you may not hear something so stupid again?
I overheard some family members talking about children’s cartoons. Then a guy said Cocomelon should be avoided. I agree with this. But why does he think so? Cocomelon is (along with Peppa Pig) a leftist psyop where this nebulous leftist cabal uses bright colours in a (I quote) Manchurian Candidate experiment to indoctrinate children into waving the rainbow flag.
I wish my eardrums would have given in before the waves for these words fell upon them.
You should should lean into it.
Tell him you listened to what he was saying about pepa pig and that its worse than he seems to know. Its Nazis that are doing the brainwashing and they are hiding in the CIA. Then dump the skinny on MKUltra/Galidio/Congress for Cultural Freedom and all the shifty stuff the CIA got up to under Richard Helms the nazi lover who was a lead negotiator on project paperclip.
This guy is too far gone. He thinks CIA is communist. You can’t do irony or sarcasm with person.
To come to a conclusion that CIA is communist must have been a hell of a ride…
It might seem far fetched to most people here but if someone is a brain deprived far-right Hindu nationalist anti-communist who is also somewhat vary of the USA, it is a concievable (though not understandable) conclusion to round up all these beliefs which don’t have much basis in reality. He is the type of person who you would immediately snitch on if there was a cultural revolution.
Meanwhile the pro-wrestling and the entire country music scene are some the campiest aspects of American (I assume this family member is American) culture.
Today’s strike was fun (for a lack of a better word). There were 7000 people present at the march in my city which was honestly more than we excepted, so that’s good. Several thousands of people in other cities around the country as well. I assume many more people striking but not going to a protest.
I spoke to many different people, also from different communist parties. Mostly Trots though but still interesting to see what they are up to. Being anti-China was one of those things which I thought was funny coming from a party in the margin (duh).
I did however like their wish to become a bit more radical with the protests because holding up some quirky signs every month will probably not save our rights and our own party is not doing much different (insert Lenin’s What To Do quote).
The sun was absolutely blasting though so I feel a bit woozy from walking in the sun all day.
On the way home I got stopped by this girl working for a charity who asked me to donate. She was very passionate about the case which I thought was cool. Upon getting home however I saw that I subscribed to a monthly thing and I don’t want that given how many things I already am active for or are paying for, so I called the org to stop it so that I can make a one time payment. The lady on the phone said ‘okay, I will send a mail to the girl you spoke to to cancel it’ and I found that quite sad lol. I at least asked the lady to tell her in the mail that I still donated though so that she would not feel too bad.

but isnt it more than just a protest, because its also a strike? the way to make it more radical would be to hold an indefinite strike, but that is something for the unions to decide
Well I guess so, it was a strike. But the Trotskyist members were there on their own account instead of striking it seemed so their vision of it might be a bit skewed.
Personally I am all for (a version of) an indefinite strike but I doubt ABVV and ACV want to do that given their ties to Vooruit and CD&V so as to not jeopardize their positions on the negotiations. I also don’t feel like there is a party ready to back the unions, able to provide the neccessary context to the working class people apart from PVDA-PTB but even then I´m not too confident in how they will handle that with no allies apart from the unions. Vooruit will never back PVDA and neither will Groen I´m sure.
yeah exactly, it seems like things are not bad enough for unions to completely turn their back on the government and burn all bridges, same with greens and socialists
The thing is that there are some really serious things that are being proposed that they cannot ignore I think, otherwise people will be royally fucked in the coming years and-or decades. And simply remaining idle with some accepted strikes in between is not going to solve it, so at some point they would have to do something more serious.
Heya everyone, my first $495 ko-fi funds are complete. I’m waiting for 21 day delay to be finished by 15 of May
Anyone who is familiar with getting into programming/coding field, especially without prior paid work experience in it? I’m US-based. Have some self taught experience, I would say I’m beyond novice albeit rusty, but proving that on a resume is another thing and I might be a better fit for entry level for that reason. Part of the problem is, a lot in my area last I looked tends to be military contractor stuff and I do not want to go work on weapons tech or whatever. I guess I could look for remote stuff?
Does anyone know of specific opportunities? (Not asking people to google search for me, just wondering on that level if anyone already knows of something.)
I dont know much but i have heard there are like certifications you can get pretty easily. Like you take a test and get a certification you can put on your resume. Might be worth looking into for you.
Thanks, I’ll see what I can find on it.
Anecdotal experience but a friend of mine, who was objectively bad at coding but good communication skills, got a “requires Y years of experience in X language.” job after doing a 2 week bootcamp in X language by lying on the resume/interview. So unless you are looking for a job at the FAANG companies, which ive heard do a lot of vetting, fake it till you make it really can work.
I second this tbh. I worked in the industry, start ups especially don’t vet
Interesting, will keep that in mind. I do tend to be overly conscientious about that kind of thing to my detriment sometimes. 😅
There is the Ren’py programming language to make visual novels that I am now learning.
What kind of coding are you thinking? It depends quite a bit. Remote stuff is viable. It has gotten harder to break into since the waves of layoffs in the tech industry, but is not impossible. I always say getting the first job is the hardest part.
I did this a little over 10 years ago & that was when the tech industry was in full swing with 0% interest rates at the time so it was a bit lax.
What kind of coding do you do? Language, part of the stack etc?
What kind of coding are you thinking?
Whatever I can get work in that I’m reasonably competent at doing, I guess (or can be helped to reasonable enough competency, if it’s entry level).
What kind of coding do you do? Language, part of the stack etc?
Most of my self taught experience has been in C++, along with Qt for GUI, and occasionally Python (but not very much). Oh and XML to an extent, but I know that’s more of a markup thing - just, there were some occasions where I got into working with it for one reason or another. The C++ was partly because I more wanted to do programming in video game design, but by this point, knowing what I do about how that industry functions, that would probably just get me a job where I burn out for less pay.
I do think I have a pretty good grasp of the problem-solving aspect of coding; the reasoning things out, searching for information online, whether in forums/stackoverflow or documentation, etc. But there are certain things that come across to me as somewhat fundamental that I don’t feel I have a good grasp on, like Big O Notation and various algorithms. When I go on places like HackerRank or CodingGame, I feel like I’m hitting some kind of wall a lot of the time. I don’t know if it’s that the problems are too abstract, if I don’t care enough, or if most of them are based around algorithmic thinking and that’s something where I lack. But that makes my confidence waver a bit for dealing with paid expectations.
And I know in general, I do best with examples. Some of the abstract way that some resources talk about programming, my brain just slides off it. It’s one of the reasons I glommed onto Qt. They had really good documentation, commonly having examples to explain use.
(All this said, I’m guessing I am overestimating how much base competence I need to break into it, when putting on a face of confidence is probably more important for that. But nevertheless, it’s something that has given me pause before and I have a hard time “faking” confidence.)
You’re right that you’re probably overestimating the basic competence. If you have proficiency in one language, you can end up pretty easily learning another, as every programming language has similar concepts, they just implement them all in a different way.
As for the practical day to day, understanding algorithms isn’t really needed. Most languages & frameworks have already implemented almost all problems you’ve come across with methods like sorting & things like that, but it’s helpful to know generally what the performance of something is just in case you end up working with a large dataset.
I feel you on the HackerRank problems, they’re annoying & pointless & don’t seem to translate well into day to day work, but unfortunately they’re used most often for technical interviews. I always had the toughest time with them & I still resent them to this day lol.
I find there are two different areas of skills needed to break into tech:
- Interviewing
- Actually doing the job
Interviewing is much more about solving problems in front of people which usually feel very self indulgent and pointless. There are some that are awesome interview processes but 80% of the time you’ll get some bullshit problem to solve in front of them. I find not passing these is its own form of filtering for yourself, because the engineers that think of them or design these interview processes are usually egotistical & have a lot of pull within the org.
Doing the job is much more about collaboration, practical aspects of working together (source control like git, understanding the agile process, knowing who to go to for specific types of knowledge, code reviews, etc). There is a lot less hypothetical knowledge needed unless you’re working on critical systems that require high performance & have strict memory limits.
As for whether or not to work in video games, you’re definitely right about them being the most exploited. But if you’re hoping to work on a unionized team, the video game industry is just about the only one who has any sort of organization effort toward getting unionized & have close to the only unions in the entire tech industry. So it’s a trade off. I have tried unionizing in tech start ups before & it has been incredibly hard to get people together for it, I’ve only gotten small cores of people willing to do it before getting laid off or leaving.
Hope that helps. You’re welcome to reach out any time if you want more insight, I know breaking into tech can be daunting.
First
Omg welcome back
Thanks, its been a while hasn’t it, too long
You have to send me an animal video now does are the rules

Anyone know of a good place for being able to share, like, a single audio file that I could delete later for privacy if I wanted to? I was gonna try soundcloud but it’s being a pain to get into a previous account I had and plus it seems like a lot for one file.
Reason I ask is I wrote a little song, liberation themed. I don’t sing much, but I did a rough rendition of it so if anyone likes the lyrics, they have a general sense of what tune I’m going for and could use it for a better rendition. But I’m getting a bit snagged on the logistics of actually sharing the audio here, where simplicity and privacy is concerned.
I think https://vocaroo.com/ is the one you want.
Oh I was thinking that one is just for recording and then sharing what’s recorded. I see there is an upload option too. Thanks, I’ll consider it.
I hope you all have a nice week :D
You too oppo :D
😭😭😭 stop my brain is so rotted I did not think of the bird when I first saw this
Hawk eat on that thing
Thank you! How about a great week for you.
Have a noice week!
Cool! 😎🥶❄️🐆
Ugggggggggggggggg Im so done
Yes, Master Oppo Rancicis
I was just thinking about how great hitlers mustache is. Not that it makes him look cool or anything but that it really made him stand out. That stupid little patch of hair saved 1 in 50 white european of men from having to live their lives looking like hitler.
1 in 50 seems awfly generous I was thinking 1 in 30
Never been to europe is it really 65% uglier than I imagine?
So it turns out DPRK troops were fighting with Russians in Kursk this whole time.
The real DPRK was the friends Russians made along the way.
*Soviet peoples (they were more than just Russians)
Kursk is not in Ukraine though, just Russia getting help to defend their territory.
Yeah its kinda funny that the Ukrainians lied so much prior and did such a bad job of actually proving it that everyone thought it was fake this whole time lol.
