President Trump has signed three more executive orders, further cracking down on the rights of immigrants and asylum seekers. One order seeks to compile a list of so-called sanctuary cities that refuse to cooperate with Trump’s mass deportation policies.
A second order further militarizes local police departments, while providing legal resources to officers accused of abuses; it also seeks to undo federal consent decrees for departments that have committed civil rights abuses and seeks to punish local officials who “unlawfully prohibit law enforcement officers from carrying out duties.”
A third executive order requires professional truck drivers to be proficient in English. On Monday, staffers placed signs on the White House lawn showing mugshots of immigrants, linking them to crimes with the word ”ARRESTED” written in all caps.
This comes as House Republicans have proposed a bill that would charge people arriving at a U.S. port of entry $1,000 in order to file an asylum claim — and a $3,500 fee for those sponsoring children. The right to seek asylum is a fundamental human right enshrined in international law, and the U.S. has never before charged petitioners.
So…those of you who have lived though things like this, realistically what can an individual do?
Im talking beyond voting. Stock up on things? Get to know all my neighbors?
Because of an earlier Executive order, ICE (and related law enforcement) no longer needs to have a warrant. Now we are talking about militarizing local police forces. What happens if my family and I get disappeared?
Organize. Organize. And organize.
Not speaking from experience, but if history has taught us anything, the best course of action is practicing mutual aid. Talk to locals. And arm yourselves.
Many Germans were wondering the same thing nearly a hundred years ago.
Some of them decided to move while they still had the chance. You could say it’s traditional to move across the ocean if your country becomes a totalitarian dictatorship. The other options aren’t that nice though. Once the system falls apart you could be judged for just going with the flow.
Where can Americans even go? It’s not like immigrating is easy, most of us can’t afford it and Western Europe is no guarantee considering vlad is breathing down their neck
If you face:

Canada and some European countries have accepted refugees from the US but from what I’ve read it’s incredibly rate and requires and extraordinary amount of proof that your life is under threat and you have no other choice than to move to those countries.
Come to South Australia!
Vlad can’t do shit in Western Europe. The bigger danger are our own right wing assholes pushed by Russia, American owned (social) media and TikTok
No country is going to be welcoming to refugees from a shithole country like America, and our notorious reputation for arrogance isn’t going to work on our favor.
If you have a lot of money, or have an in-demand skill, perhaps they’ll take you, but any American in a new country is going to face the same difficulties that immigrants in America face - discrimination, crime, exploitation, difficulty in finding jobs, bigotry, etc.
Better to stay in America and fight back.
Check in with friends and family regularly. If you go missing, have them report it and call your lawyer.
Ideally you wouldn’t let them take you alive, since CECOT is a death sentence anyway.
All my neighbors are MAGA
you should ‘do something’ about that.
