The CLOUD Act allows federal law enforcement to compel U.S.-based technology companies via warrant or subpoena to provide requested data stored on servers regardless of whether the data are stored in the U.S. or on foreign soil.

Well that settles it I guess. American companies are now a direct risk to the privacy and security of European citizens.

I mean yeah to some extent but here American law literally compels them to violate European law. That’s a step further I’d say.
But I thought it would be ridiculous to presume to tell a sovereign nation what it can do on its own soil, a la Bukele and Abrego Garcia.
Perhaps they were lying about that…!?
