That’s stupid though. Why the fuck does some weird nerds try to gatekeep the title “astronaut”? Katy Perry’s role on the flight was about equal to Yuri Gagarin in terms of controlling the ship.

Anyways, it’s just a publicity stunt by the ultra rich marketing it as feminist achievement, that’s what you should be shitting on

in 2004, a new category of astronaut was created: the commercial astronaut.

Let’s not mix the people who saw colleagues die and put their own lives on the line for science with the human billboard receiving money to advertise a rich fuck’s commercial vanity project that’s already been deemed safe (in no small parts due to it being tested by actual astronauts beforehand).

because words mean things. For example, you’re not an engineer nor are you engineering if you cut a straw shorter to fit your cup better.

Yuri Gagarin was a highly accomplished person, in the field, and the first person in space

Katy Perry didn’t even go to space, they didn’t leave the atmosphere… they didn’t orbit, they only experienced weightlessness from falling….

and more importantly, while our government is erasing records of actual women astronauts who spent days and months in orbit
extremely talented and educated women who risked their lives… purging those records and calling it DEI, it’s extremely insulting to pretend like Katy Perry should be an inspiration for women as a woman astronaut….

she’s a talented musician… i mean, i don’t like her music… but she should be inspiring with that. She’s not an astronaut because she took the hundredth ride on an autopilot near-space tourist ship for 11 minutes….

btw, this is the information age… nerds rule the world… everything you’ve ever touched has been made by nerds and you’ll just be dependent on nerds’ creations for the rest of your life.

nerd is no longer an insult. it’s a badge of honor.
