I’m a cashier at a place that does military discount day, I just blanket give anyone who’s wearing any sort of military deal the discount without asking unless I see a manager in eyeshot, my fav ‘veteran’ was a little kid that couldn’t be older than 8 wearing a veteran in some game cap , anyway, better than having someone froth about it later and get me scolded by the manager for poor hospitality.

On the other side of the register fedposting it used to be super easy to play vet at some places for free burgers etc, by just printing out and half ass filling a dd214 form out, didn’t need to get valorized in any form, just you filling it out was enough to hunt down Veteran’s day freebies, especially if you’re economically bad off, loaded a few people with signs up on Veteran’s day since there’s no way one person can eat all the free food you could get, might as well share the wealth. Now many places require a hard ID. Anyway, easy way to get the trifecta by randos in line.
