The kind of cognitive dissonance that tries to make believing in yourself evil is utterly without decency.
I dunno, the Christians might be on to something. Definitely some people around who need to believe in themselves a bit less.
Thank you, Satan! 🥹
Christians -
hale satin
“unfortunately. Our garments could not withstand the weather.”
Clearly I need more satan in my life.
Satan is rad as hell.
According to their own mythos the dude just wanted to enlighten humanity and free us a from the bondage of an angry gods slavery.
I know that the serpent that suggested eating the appel wasn’t meant by the author to be the devil, but the audacity of modern Christians to make their antagonist be anti knowledge…
Of course the serpent isn’t satan, because he was cursed to live as an animal on his belly. Which, keep in mind the original authors didn’t intend for the plethora of devil and satan figures to be the same recurring character, and to be the same character as the serpent or lucifer. But none of these other characters slither on their belly, so either hes a different character or god isn’t Almighty.
So what about other character modern Christians conflate with Satan? Well what about the devil who tempted Jesus to eat in the dessert. Sounds like an act of charity to me. There are numerous health benefits to fasting, but let me check my notes, 40 days? And the reason to be obedient? Imagine if your significant other wanted you to torture your self like that for obedience. Stockholm syndrome much? Who tried to give Jesus food? Assuming hes not just hallucinating, this was written in a type of ancient Greek language often referer to today as koine greek and the character was referred to as diabolos.
Anyway, I became an atheist, while sitting in church, at around 11ish I dont remember, at least before I learned the word atheist, and the reason is I didn’t see (putting words on this as an adult, I wasn’t able to use these words at 11) I didn’t see how if god was not part of the natural world then hes not part of our world.
First time I read the word atheist and it’s definition, I remember thinking that this describes me. But after that I was able to read more about in and about the Bible, and at the time as intended in modern Christianity conflating all these devils and lucifer and the serpent, the only thing this conflated super character does anything wrong is in the book of Job, and then god encouraged and allowed him to do that. Still not saying killing someone’s family is good, but yes
The invented character that is conflated with the multiple devils and lucifer and the serpent is the good character
And god tortured and kills everyone, and gets them to obey…
I mean wtf
Oh, and my beliefs didn’t get any more Christian when YouTube came out haha
Sounds like the difference between supportive adult and an abusive one.
Good guy Satan.
Thanks Satan. I needed that today.
Satan is the only character who tells the truth in the Bible.
By Christians he’s seen as the enemy.
Given that most Satanists just make fun of religion, how do you call people who’re really believing in Satan?
Christians
We really just make fun of Christianity. None of the Satanists I know have a problem with religion per se.
Lol, your comment reminded me of when I got to confirmation age and I was the only one in my class who chose to not get confirmated. The priest would come to me in class a few times to convince me to join in on Bible studies and I asked him several questions that pissed him off enough to leave me alone. One of them was: do you believe in Satan?
And he said no.
And I said: do you believe in Jesus?
And he said yes.
“How can you believe in one and not the other when they are part of the same religion?”
Only said in a 13 year old way of speaking so probably a lot more clunky. Anyway, I kept pushing him to admit that if he believes in the good he also must believe in the evil because they belong together and one without the other is just lying to yourself and making yourself vulnerable to evil - but again, in a 13 year old clunky way of saying it.
He got mad and never spoke a word to me again.
I still believe in this sentiment even though I’m not religious. I am painfully aware of the evil inside of me and how I must be observant and aware of how I affect the world and how the world affects me. If I turn a blind eye to evil, I will open myself up to it. That is how people end up in cults and I know I have a high chance of becoming one of those, so there’s a lot of talks in the mirror and reflections on my own behavior.
13 year old me was nowhere close to understanding the complexities of the conversation I was trying to have with the priest back then, I just wanted him to not be a hypocrite and admit that if he believes in God he also must believe in the devil even if he disagrees with his teachings. You cannot be good if you ignore evil.
That went deep, quickly. I absolutely agree we all have good and bad, black and white or whatever you call it tendencies inside. Whenever we ignore our dark part, it acts unseen, unchecked.
By accepting that we’re just human, just animals, we have desires, we can at least - I don’t really have good words for this - at least feel and take care in the harm we can’t or don’t want to avoid to do.
Yeah sorry about my armchair philosophizing on this lovely Sunday evening or morning depending on where in the world you are right now.
I think the most frustrating thing about attempting to live by this balanced philosophy is that nothing is ever balanced for long. As a perfectionist, this is probably gonna be the most challenging lesson in my life, personally, but at the same time, it does keep life interesting.
don’t ever believe you accomplished something. it was jesus who did it for you. unless you fail. then it’s 100% your own fault
privatize profits, socialize losses …
Jesus saves, Satan invests.
we should all totally become satanists now
I mean, you don’t even need one, but you could be a card-carrying member of the Satanic Temple.. They’ve come out and said that anyone who wants to join can do so, no fees necessary. I would view it as more of a donation to their cause.
I am a card carrying member. I think I have sincerely held religious beliefs that some court cases should be protecting right now. I know small comfort, but it’s better than nothing.
I first read the Satanist Bible a year after leaving Christianity. It’s not only a parody of the Bible, it’s also all about believing in yourself. I found it very inspiring. My Christian family was not amused.
New doom game comes out in 3 days.
