    And the EU was guilty of a “double standard”, the signatories said, because several member states had told Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu he could visit them even though he was wanted on war crimes charges by the International Criminal Court.

    So, the Rule of Law is too extreme? When did politics become so jaded?

    EU was considering “different tracks of sanctions” against Israel, including against “extremist settlers”, but sanctions have been “blocked by one member state” until now, alluding to Hungary.

    Yet another issue the EU is far too slow in reacting to.

      If anything, this would point to Hungary being kept loose to soak up the blame for unpopular policies the Commission agrees with.

    Keeping Hungary in the EU at this point is almost as bad as having Belarus.

    Or maybe equally so.
