Half the league is insane.
I knew we’d end up in Europa with whatever weird magic Man U has against us for our final match. Can’t really complain though considering how bad Villa was before Unai
We lost our champions league place with our terrible form end of October to start of December. We drew two and lost three of five matches, by far our worst run of form in the prem and thats not counting the loses in Champions League and EFL Cup around that time period. We only needed one win to get fifth.
I blame a mix of our terrible setup defensively, key injury to Konsa, and summer sales of key players due to PSR compliance.
Yeah it’s a bummer how close we got but I’m still stoked for Europe football
Three years in a row is massive achievement, especially where we came from. I just wish we weren’t butting up against PSR the whole time, its not like our net transfer budget is excessive, we significantly lower than most of the clubs above and around us. Its just a hangover of Gerrards high wages that he had to pay to get players in the door.
It’s wild how gerrard still haunts us with that. I really don’t like how we get fisted all the time with the wages while city seems to always seems untouchable with their endless money bags. But yeah coming from relegation to hitting Europe every year has been really a fun ride, still ups and downs and frustrations but overall it’s been a fun experience
Its tin foil hat territory, but City pushing back on shareholder loans against the league impacting many other big name clubs and the high risk of expensive appeals is holding up the judgement against them. I just feel they are both winding down the clock, because this should really have to apply retrospectively as well as for the future so would mean stripping them of titles already won, and nobody wants that.
If it goes on and on, it will be “its all in the past and too hard”, so that’s the impression I am getting, right or wrongly. If its applied only to the future then for this magnitude of offenses it has to be managed transfers and at least one relegation. Zero chance City would ever take that lying down, especially when other clubs are bending the rules as well, it would see three or four big six clubs pushed into the same punishments if City then won. Thankfully our shareholder loans is trivial, a couple of million at best.
I feel like City were waiting around to buy players for the longest time, then felt confident last January to start spending again, because of the then pending victory in over Shareholder loans.I am expecting them to spend big again this summer, as they expect to get away with it.
Its Man U and Chelsea that really annoy me, as they are not under any real investigation yet constantly come up with scams like selling their womens team for more than the value of league one. We really need to remove PSR and implement a budget cap as we have in F1. Its not perfect but its a damn sight better than PSR.
I’m a little sad for Forest not getting CL, even though it wasn’t a big shock.
Yeah that collapse was kind of massive, I feel bad for their fan base
I’m not sure it was a big collapse so much as just running out of luck a little bit. You could see it in their stats that they were always going to regress to the mean. They still had a really good season, go back to last July and they’d snap your hand off at 7th.
I guess I worded it wrong but I just mean to fall apart right there towards the end is a bummer for the fans
Yeah definitely. I was holding out hope until the end for them, and I hope Nuno is not going to get criticised by the owner and fans for failing to get CL. I always had a soft spot for him.
