I desperately want a cure for my chronic inflammatory problems, but I’m not convinced this is the right path.

This site sells shit in capsules - literally.

Stool donors are trained to make the FMT capsules and samples. They store them in their standard freezer unless otherwise specified/requested.

So someone who isn’t a medical professional is going to be handling something you’re going to ingest (their shit, literally), in a non-clinical setting using non-clinical equipment.

This organization doesn’t appear to be run by doctors or researchers. The claim is made repeatedly that the reason FMT isn’t effective in all cases is because of low donor quality - but then they also have no data showing what would make a perfect donor. Maybe they’re right, but their claims aren’t being backed up by anyone with authority that I can see.

I’m sorry, but there’s a good reason why all the government agencies are basically ignoring this organization. Not nearly enough quality research is available around FMT for this site to be selling capsules as treatments.

The site’s owner says that they take several capsules throughout the day. But of course no timeline is given of when they could potentially stop or when to expect results. I haven’t read everything on this site because my BS alarms were ringing on a deafening level, so maybe these questions are answered somewhere, but unless this organization is run by people with the right education and experience, I don’t think it should be trusted at all.

This in particular makes me think this organization is skirting the law:

The only update available since the last blog a year ago is the fact that we’ve received over a million applicants and still haven’t found one that meets the ideal criteria. The FDA saw that and thought “Ha, these guys have it too easy”. They sent me a warning letter about the regulatory status of FMT. I responded and haven’t heard back yet.

but then they also have no data showing what would make a perfect donor.

There’s another blog on that https://www.humanmicrobes.org/blog/the-evidence-and-rationale-supporting-our-donor-criteria

Overall, your comment is very suspicious and seems to be coming from someone with an agenda. It ignored the linked blog and instead opted to try to find critique of them elsewhere. And made a number of false statements that are clearly designed to denigrate them. Odd.

I’m sorry, but there’s a good reason why all the government agencies are basically ignoring this organization.

This seems to be fabricated and makes me suspicious of your intentions.

The site’s owner says that they take several capsules throughout the day. But of course no timeline is given of when they could potentially stop or when to expect results.

      That is simply not true.

When I first started out 7+ years ago on my own, I created a donor screening questionnaire that tried to judge every aspect of health. That questionnaire plus a candidate’s physical characteristics were what I was using to fully select and screen donors. Testing capabilities were/are very limited, and I was very poor. I had no idea if stool type was important, or which stool type was good/bad.

So admittedly they’re not a medical professional doing medical work. That’s HIGHLY suspicious. It also seems like the FDA has warned them that selling capsules meant to treat diseases is against the law. Notice how when other places sell “dietary supplements” they are not legally allowed to make claims around what those supplements will treat? This isn’t falling under that narrow exception.

If they have credentialed professionals working with them, they are not prominently listed on the site, and I can’t find them listed anywhere I don’t want anyone but licensed doctors doing this work. Not some hobbyist who is desperate for a treatment and willing to sell you literally shit in a capsule!

I think the fact that you responded the way you did to my healthy skepticism shows me all I need to know about your intentions behind sharing this information.

My agenda is fighting against misinformation and snake oil salesman to people in my position in life - miserably sick with no real options.

You obviously have some interest in pushing this information, but I won’t speculate what that is.

Either way, by sharing this you have made a claim. It is therefore on YOU to back up that claim. When I prompted you to do that, instead you insulted me. That’s not only not convincing, but it was predictable.

Anyone can write up a blog and sell snake oil. Until I see actual, clinical research by licensed medical professionals around this organization’s efforts, this site is selling worse than snake oil. What they’re selling could actually harm people because they’re producing items meant for consumption without even a shred of training or education on how to do that in accordance with the law and good science.

              Says the guy spreading misinformation.

When I prompted you to do that, instead you insulted me.

Lmao. Continuing to just conjure up bullshit.

Anyone can write up a blog

You clearly didn’t even read it. It’s not selling anything.

Until I see actual, clinical research by licensed medical professionals around this organization’s efforts

There’s plenty of it on the site, but you magically missed it. Because you obviously have an agenda.

What they’re selling could actually harm people because they’re producing items meant for consumption without even a shred of training or education on how to do that in accordance with the law and good science.

              More false statements.

People like you spreading FUD and misinformation is why there is a likely cure in existence yet we can’t obtain it.

If you believe that, I’ve got some horse dewormer to sell you as a “cure” for Covid.

If I’ve missed the information you claim exists then show us a link.

                Otherwise, go troll elsewhere.
