At least six German military trucks were destroyed in a suspected arson attack at a Bundeswehr facility in Erfurt, Germany, in what appears to be a Russian sabotage operation on NATO soil, revealed by a pro-Russian Telegram channel, Ukrainian defense outlet Militarnyi on June 26.

The footage shared by the channel shows multiple Rheinmetall MAN military trucks engulfed in flames. The authors claimed that the vehicles belonged to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and were supposedly sent to Erfurt for repairs—a claim easily disproven by the visible Bundeswehr markings and German license plates on the trucks.

[…]

The trucks should have been secured within a military zone, meaning the attack not only caused significant material damage but also likely involved an unauthorized breach of a German military installation—a serious security violation that points to foreign intelligence involvement.

[…]

The pro-Russian channel claimed the operation was carried out by “our people” and celebrated the destruction of equipment allegedly bound for Ukraine. However, the reality indicates a direct attack on German property and military readiness.

Authorities in Germany have not yet commented publicly on the incident or confirmed the extent of the damage, but investigations are expected to focus on potential Russian intelligence operatives or proxy networks operating within Germany. The attack follows a broader pattern of Russian sabotage attempts across Europe, targeting railways, military depots, and arms factories that support Ukraine’s defense.

This is propaganda, there is no evidence that Russia did this. We should not turn every random act of vandalism into a headline, hinting at russian involvement.

In other news on the attack you can read:

Russian pro-war Telegram channel Voenacher published a video of the incident that depicted several military vehicles engulfed in flames. It claimed that the vehicles had been under repair for the Ukrainian military, and alleged that “[its] people” conducted the attack.

You’ll find more on the web. It adds to a series of dozens of Russian attacks across Europe in recent years.

    https://www.rheinmetall.com/en/media/news-watch/news/2024/07/2024-07-01-record-order-over-6,500-trucks-for-3.5-bn-eur

Rheinmetall has been given the largest order in the company`s history concerning logistic vehicles by the Bundeswehr. The framework-contract was now signed in Koblenz and incorporates the delivery of up to 6,500 military trucks, valued up to €3.5bn incl. VAT.

Apparently Germany is ordering some quantity of additional trucks, so I expect that the destroyed ones won’t represent a huge dent.

It sounds like they’re something like 500k EUR each, so that’s something like 3 million EUR in damage.

Yesterday someone posted a link to an article in The Sun, it’s headline was Britain’s migrant crisis being fuelled by Putin’s Russia and other hostile states in secret plot to destabilise UK; I feel I might just as well copy and paste my comment to that post:

The amount of shit Russia pulls without getting any kind repercussion truly astonishes me.

      An article in The Sun?

Jesus, people fall for the dumbest shit.

And you’re mentioning it, like you’re proud of it.

Of course, the headline sounds really reasonable this time!

It isn’t easy for everybody to determine what is a credible news source and what isn’t. It’s getting harder every day. Those who have fallen victim to illegitimate sources still deserve respect, at least in your first interactions with them. There’s a way to question an individual’s source without calling them stupid.

Not saying i find The Sun a credible source, they can still report on true events. I am not the one posted the article. I’m mentioning it, because I care for sharing the source.

      This.

Russia has been poisoning people multiple ntimes all over Europe and the UK with no regards whatsoever for collateral damage. The polonium poisoning made an entire restaurant a radioactive hotzone, Russia doesn’t give a shit. The skripals got poisoned and where do you dump the poisonous evidence? Why, just in a bin somewhere. People died from this.

Seriously, any Russian spy found should be hung publicly from a bridge or tree, send some message back to these evil fucks.

You guys are too tied to countries. National labels apply to the poor.

Putin and his ilk are gangsters of a global level, things they do are often helped from within the governments of those places. Them torching these trucks likely means they have fingers in the German soup. Not because of some national identity or even a political ideology.

It’s because there are rich people colluding to run governments and legal systems to do as they please. It’s not even some illuminati cabal thing, it’s just by the way the system is. If it wasn’t Russia they’d just find another stooge country to do some bullshit and take the heat, they already do all the time – “Bush did 9/11” is a perfect example. Likely kept him the presidency, oil fields and resources were taken back by the system, friends of friends are all happier. While he didn’t plan it himself the people around him, the system before them and the incentives presented kinda means Bush did 9/11. You know?

That’s not a problem but a feature as those morons very well align with authoritatian assholes like Putin. Okay, Russia’s imperialist ambitions look like a problem at first but that can obviously be solved by being on Putin’s good side *wink wink*

Ikr, it’s unbelievable. I wish at least there was like this one story of a leaked spy thing we did to Russia, but there seems to be nothing except support Ukraine (at least there is that).
