It would be a gamble, not insanity. If actual western militaries turn out to work well, then it’s a prestige boost.
Otherwise they’ll have to return to levee en masse and reintroduce conscription and mass training, because every third world dictator will realize that lots of infantry is still good, and some western army of 20 thousand well-paid specialists can be stomped by a 60k army of Muslim child soldiers unable to read.
There’s a bit of an issue with the Russian army now being a bit more experienced than it was.
Those people who spent billions buying up Ukrainian property want their money back. They didn’t care how many Ukrainians had to die for them to buy the property in the first place. They won’t care how many others are made to follow suit.
