The 1990s called to tell you that your setup is glorious.
Also, they said to say “whaaaaaat’s up”, I guess. I’m not sure what that was about.
Joking aside - that’s a very nice setup in any decade.
@pinball_wizard @mechanicalkeyboards Haha, thank you!
Also, waaaaaaazz uuuuuup.
@mechanicalkeyboards I’ve had this setup for ~6 years now. I don’t think they make the white trackball mouse anymore. The ball also lights up – I don’t think the new models do that anymore, either.
The keyboard has Cherry MX browns in it. This is the original Ergodox EZ model, so they’re soldered in there.
Do you use the trackball with one hand exclusively or mix it up? Just thinking about the middle placement
One hand pretty much exclusively. I almost always use my right; I might occasionally use my left if I’m needing to hold a key with my right hand, but I that doesn’t come up often. It really just fit on the desk better to put it in the middle. At first I thought it might be more ergonomic that way, but I don’t think it really makes a difference.
(This is OP, by the way, for some reason your comment didn’t get forwarded to my Mastodon account that I originally posted from.)
The ways of lemmy federation are mysterious and “best effort”.
great setup!
That’s the bluest blue I’ve ever seen. I love the setup
It looks great, I especially like the backlit CST. I could never acclimate to my Ergdox, so it now lives with a friend who is making good use of it. Mine was the original layered clear full hand build with MX Clears.
@zod000 @mechanicalkeyboards Thanks! It definitely took a while to get used to. Weirdly, it almost seems like the split keyboard aspect was harder than the ortholinear aspect for me.
It was definitely harder doing the split that the ortholinear part of it since I have used smaller ortho keyboards and been ok-ish from the start.
Love the ergodox ez! Mine has quiet cherry switches
Nice! How do you like the quiet cherry switches? I have some quiet Zeal switches (“Zilent”) and I really like them, but I’m curious about others, too.
I like them a lot! I also have one with regular cherry switches at home, the silent are for work and I’ve never had complaints for noise. They’re still satisfyingly clicky
