No other details have been released yet, just that it was an “accident”.
I’m a cyclist and a hockey fan. This one sucks on so many levels.
They were both supposed to stand in their sisters wedding tomorrow. Johnny has two young kids.
Feel terrible for their family. Fuck
TSN said the wedding is today. :'(
The Carneys Point, New Jersey, natives were in the area for their sister Katie’s wedding scheduled for Friday in Philadelphia. Source
Wtf…
Got hit by a car while cycling with his brother, according to Frank Seravalli.
Yup. Reported on USA Today too.
Hit by a suspected drunk driver while cycling with his brother. What a loss.

Devastating.
God damn that’s even more infuriating. This was already incredibly sad.
Second Jackets player to be killed while traveling for a wedding in the past 4 years. Absolutely heartbreaking for the families and the team. I imagine they are going to throw the book at the driver
I dont get overly angry when a high profile person or celebratory dies, but the way in which this happened makes me angry and sad. No one should get hit while cycling, and no one should be driving under the influence especially in the age of Uber and Lyft.
He probably thought the second car was trying to cut off his pass.
Whoops you devastated an entire family.
More than just a family, think of all the team mates and people they have worked with in the past. Think of the charitable organizations who they partnered with. While some (including me) have called them goons, the fact is these too had outsizes impacts on the communities they were apart of just because of their talents. The whole world is poorer for this loss and every loss like it.
Damn, RIP
Unimaginable tragedy.
I hate this being reported as a cycling accident. Nothing about their cycling was unexpected or unforseen.
It was if anything, a driving accident that killed two innocent fathers, and given that it seems that the driver was drunk and overtaking two cars on the right, not what I would classify as an unforeseeable “accident”.
