I read the book, to figure out the hype since it kept getting brought up. I would recommend it to anyone. Audio works, in fact, the context of the book is that the protagonist is recording her story over old music cassette tapes. It’s captivating in the same way a slow motion crash and burn sequence is captivating.

I tried the series. I’ve done episode one. I cannot imagine enduring a stretched out version for multiple seasons. There’s nothing wrong with the production or acting. It’s solid, and draws me in with the same ethos as the book. I just don’t think I can do it a second time and in more detail across multiple seasons. If it was 1 season, maybe.
