California-based ebike company Blix has launched a folding commuter that can haul over 300 lb, and comes with auto power/gear shifting for optimum riding, can ride as Class 2 or 3, and includes a 70-mile battery.
Interesting. I just got a very similar spec ebike (minus the automatic shifter) for $1,000, while this one is $1,700. Arguably this one has better specs overall for sure, but I do wonder if the difference is worth the cost.
I haven’t tried any of the automatic shifters yet so I cant comment on the dollar value, but to this day I still fuck up my shift timing or choices and pay for it in my knees or scary gear and chain sounds. If any become available at local shops for testing I will at least try it.
LOL - how the hell do you fuck up your shifting?
Maybe they’re new to cycling.
Could be, but I’ll admit: I’m not in the perfect gear every time and I am definitely not new to riding.
Or you just forget to downshift when you stop, have a momentary lapse of judgement, bump your shifter, etc. This could happen for lots of reasons.
You guys both have good points. I didn’t even think about all those reasons!
I’ve been riding decades and still fuck up once in while, it happens. Forgetting to downshift at a stop isn’t all that uncommon, at least for me.
just wrong gear for the slope level, not downshiftitng before a stop, etc. comes with old age or something I dunno…
Enviolo seems to be one of the better ones FWIW, might be worth checking your LBS for a test ride.
Isn’t 300 pounds a bit low to carry an American?
Average weight is 200 lbs so no
Soon you won’t even need to pedal
Soon you can send your bike out to get groceries!
Oh, that’s a good price for the auto-shifting
