Sorry been away from comics for a bit with life stuff and other, well, stuff. Anyway I picked up reading Ultimate Spider-Man (2000) and it’s so good. I’m on issue 25 and I really dig the writing, It’s like all the best beats from classic spider-man but with a fresh coat of paint for the 21st century.
right now nothing, but 2-3 weeks ago I checked a bit of Savage Avengers which is Conan + the more gritty Marvel characters and it’s just mindless action with good art, the bad guy is also the wizard from the Conan universe, it would probably make for a good movie but they’d never go this hard under Disney

i was a big fan of the ultimate spider-man run. it was really the shining light of a truly disappointing line of comics
Hm, I was thinking about taking a peek at the other ultimate series.
From what I remember as a kid, the Ultimate universe was divided between Bendis in Ultimate Spider-Man doing a fun reboot for a new audience, and Mark Millar doing a subversion of classic superhero tropes in an unnecessarily way.
definitely give them a shot, i think they lead up to some cool stuff
Still trying to finish up Blame! Slow progress into Spawn, very 90s vibe but it’s cool. Want to check out Absolute Batman, but gotta find a good downloadable spot for it first.
