We’ve got the following:

  • Socialism and Liberation
  • Vote Better
  • C4C 2024
  • Socialist Equality
  • All of Us!
  • Socialist Workers Party

I only remember Socialism and Liberation (PSL, right?) being on the ballot last time. Are the others I listed any more or less serious? The Socialist Workers Party rings a bell, but that’s only because I vaguely recall them being mentioned when I looked up Trotskyism one time. No one seems to have anything nice to say about Trotskyists and I’m honestly not sure what the deal is there.

I’m just trying to figure this out because I like filling in bubbles and I might as well do it in the service of the socialist project.

PSL, to my knowledge, is technically Marcyist but is largely made up of MLs, not trots. They don’t denounce AES to my knowledge like trot groups tend to.

Hi! I think this info is likely personally identifying, at least to an extent. Based on it I can determine the district in which you are registered to vote, basically. If you decide to take down the post, please let me know so I can delete my comment as well.

Here are my takes on these options.

PSL: A Marxist-Leninist party that does good and coherent work. I think their presidential campaigns are an ineffucient use of resources but that is neither here nor there. PSL organized much of the initial Palestinian solidarity protests via its associated group, the ANSWER Coalition. This is, in my opinion, the one to choose.

Vote Better: I had not heard of this party. It does not appear to be socialist based on their main candidate this year. It has a section about decreasing regulatory barriers because small businesses “create jobs”.

C4C 2024: I can’t find very much info. Statements from a few years ago indicate that she is anti-capitalist. You may want to look into this candidate more to see if they have any meaningful local momentum or cache (and good politics) because if she checks out you might want to help build that local org. I think it is more likely that this is a very small party centered on this one candidate, though.

Socialist Equality: toxic Trots that run WSWS, which regularly has horrible takes. Avoid and denounce.

All of Us: The candidate has almost zero presence or positions stated and I can’t find a party website. Not a serious campaign regardless of their politics.

SWP: More toxic trots. Avoid and denounce.

Thank you, this is really helpful!

Also, I appreciate the concern. I already posted a photo of my house to a gardening community a little while back and found out one of my neighbors is on here. It’s all good.

lol okay but stay safe. Reactionaries like to trawl our spaces looking for info to post online for harassment campaigns.
