That episode was far too short.
I have lots of positive things to say, but really I just want more.
100%
I am thoroughly enjoying this series so far, but I really think the 3rd and 4th episodes felt too short.
Plot in any given episode seems kind of pro-forma, but the mood and set design and character work are all very nice. You see them being closer in spite of themselves and yet still building from a shaky foundation.
My comic experience is Limited to the 90s X-Books and Punisher (I got better) that I read as a teen, so this is a corner of Marvel I know very little about, and it’s a fun trip. I guess Eric Foreman’s mom is really a comic character (or at least as named by Agatha?), so I guess we’ll see her again one way or another before the season ends.
Wait, who is Eric Foreman’s mum? Is that a reference I don’t get?
Debra Jo Rupp played Mrs. Hart. She was also Kitty Foreman, the mom on That 70s Show.
Ah, you mean Sharon! If she turns out to be a comic character, that would be quite a plot twist.
Marvel could always make her a comic book character, like DC did with Harley Quinn, who was created for Batman: The Animated Series.
Mrs. Hart/Sharon might be a good foil for the new younger looking Agatha in the comic books.
Loving the 1970s rock star outfits.
The vibes of Agatha and Wanda vision being totally unique each episode are a lot of fun
I do assume we’ll have an overlong magic-blob-laser fight in the finale, though.
Nice idea to have them break Alice’ family curse. And the idea of hiding a protection spell in a popular song is a fivehead move. Schaeffer’s team is really good at world building (judgingly looking at you, DS2 team).
To see the witches bond over their “battle scars” and trauma is great, especially with Jen being the kind of witch - a midwife - who embodies real-life women who were accused of witchcraft.
So what I am getting of this is that Rio was involved in taking away Nicholas from Agatha? Or something worse?
Her telling Agatha “that boy isn’t yours” could have some unintended consequences… because that boy surely is Billy lol
Nice creepy summoning of Aubrey Plaza to the Road.
It would have been nice to explain why Alice felt creeped out about the 60s house, maybe it was just the vibes?
The paintings of the witches being tortured were good, and just out of character for a groovy 60s hippie den to make it uncomfortable.
Patti LuPone’s reactions to things going on in the background during the song were great.
The song wasn’t bad either. Not hit material, but better than your average TV show in-show song.
The exit through the piano was a bit of a letdown. A 60s architecture fire pit would have been more scary to a witch, for being reminiscent of burning at the stake.
I hope they find an excuse to bring Mrs. Hart/Debra Jo Rupp back…
