I went to a Pizza Hut one time (as an adult), and they wrote on the receipt in large print how much I should tip
I was going to tip them more but since that was what they requested…
If only they had something to sell, like food, to use a portion of the net profits on to compensate their employees.
They don’t know anything about those tickets, other than what’s written on them. What if the service was poor/slow? The food cold or bland? Flies flying around? The customer was elderly, and that’s the most they could afford? There’s a hundred reasons why the tip may be low. It’s a gratuity - to express gratitude or displeasure. If they don’t like how I tip, take tipping out of the equation and pay your servers. The dirty secret that most people don’t realize is that, in the US, if a servers’ tips don’t add up to the servers making at least minimum wage, the business is required by law to pay the difference. So this is basically a restaurant acting like a spoiled child - the customer didn’t give them enough, now we have to. WAHH WAHH!!
I would never again frequent a business that does this. You’re a business that relies on customer satisfaction, but you want to shame customers? Hard pass. I don’t care how good the food is. The other opt-out for me is any place that publicly says the tired, “Nobody wants to work anymore.” Lots of people want to work, just not for you, and you’re turning your poor business decisions into a political issue. Nope.
This is why large parts of the world reject this bs and you should, too.

Looking at photos of their menu, they don’t have a minimum gratuity specified. If this is a recurring issue, they should specify the expected gratuity on the menu.
Or even add it automatically for people, for your convenience a 18% gratuity will be added to all checks.
They are the business owner, they have full control of how these interactions go.
Or, put it into the prices themselves.
“For your convenience”
It’s for their own convenience so they don’t have to pay their employees proper wage and their employees don’t have to pay taxes on all their income. The customer is getting ripped off.
100% agreed. This just better ways for the business owner to tackle this issue, then trying to shame paying customers online.
That’s $120 of revenue right there, would the owner be happier without that revenue?
If your servers are that good, you should appreciate them more with a better paycheck.
I just avoid any restaurant that have servers at this point. I am tired of being part of the problem either way.
