Vote for the candidate that skipped the primary? Let me guess, because “Democracy’s on the ballot”?

I broadly agree with you that everyone who voted for Trump was in some sense wrong, but I don’t think your framing is helpful. Even honest people with good motivations make mistakes and I think that some percentage of Trump voters was essentially mistaken when they voted for Trump (and if they’re planning to vote for him again).

Specifically, the main mistake they’re making is believing that the ends justify the means.

Let’s say a person holds some sort of conservative belief that’s not in itself evil, like that taxes should generally be as low as possible, that any fiscal headroom should primarily be taken as an opportunity for a tax cut rather than for more state spending. There’s nothing wrong per se with believing this (all tax policy is a matter of balance and there will always be some people who, on balance, think taxes should be lower). However, believing that this is so important that you should vote for a person like Trump is wrong: the ends (low taxes) don’t justify the means (Trump regaining the presidency).

NB: The question as to whether low taxes are actually good, or of whether Trump will actually deliver them, is irrelevant to this argument; the whole point I’m making is that these people are mistaken, so if they’re also mistaken about the merits of low taxes that’s a point in favour of my argument, not against it. For what it’s worth, Trump will raise taxes on all Americans because his tariff scheme is a tax that will be paid for by Americans.

I didn’t vote for him, but my mistake was not voting directly against him. As heavy-red of an area I’m in, it probably didn’t matter, but I still felt guilty when he won. I’m one of the Bernie bros who couldn’t let go; and we legitimately made a mistake back then - but I was for sure Hillary was gonna dunk it. I knew people were stupid, but I didn’t know THAT many people were stupid. I was flabbergasted when Trump won.

Like it makes a difference. The 2 parties are a joke both serving the rich mega corps. The Dems are just lag 10 years behind -see Dick Cheney endorsing Harris. Enjoy voting for the lesser evil time after time.

Sigh one could wish. Maybe if some dragons are all visited by some ghosts. The DNC has to go but GOP needs to go first. The only option people can dicuss publicly is go “go vote” anything else gets FBI folder.

cunts can vote for anyone-case in post.

I’m glad it’s hip now to advocate, after a fashion, for the objectively better candidate, but you’re not achieving anything here.

you sound as mindless and vicious as the people you’re trying to antagonize.

        sure.

did you get convinced of “both sides” somehow?

lots of people fell for it, don’t beat yourself up.

I can’t find a way to reply with contrarian satire that isn’t simply offering surreptitious fascist talking points appended with “/s”. The relegation of “both sides are the same” to the truly gullible has made proper political irony infinitely more difficult to construct, which has been the only real casualty of its relegation. I ask you woke moralists, was it worth taking away my easiest character to write?

Because that is how they are acting. They use a term meaning a woman’s vagina as an insult. Asshole would be much more gender neutral and non-sexist. Everyone who votes for a pro-genocide candidate is an asshole.

If you think trump is going to stop Israel, you’re a fool. He’s literally said that they’re going to slow.

Then again, I have a feeling most of you who think trump will be good for anything either are braindead or you’re a russian troll

Unfortunately all candidates in this election are pro-genocide. If you pick the right one, maybe there will be a candidate next election who isn’t pro-genocide and your vote will actually count.

Wait, so this is the sort of Conservative place that’s voting for Harris? I’m not judging (I wouldn’t call Trump a conservative) but I am surprised.
