Well, that’s the end, guys!

The two federal cases are being shut down, Jack Smith is retiring, and there’s no way the Georgia case goes forward if a literal conviction is paused.

America was nice while it lasted!

I guess when you’re a star, they really do let you do it. What a slap in the face to the jury, witnesses, and prosecutors, though, who spent their time on this case and risked reprisal from MAGA extremists.

The end was really about 8 years ago. The last few weeks, and upcoming years will be the final nails in the coffin.

As a 4th generation veteran, it makes me sad.

It was before Trump, George W. Bush turned Americans into unthinking morons.

Regan. Regan is where it really all started. Corporate America took over then. And the American dream turned into who can kiss the most ass.

Justice is blind, y’all! I guess we just have to accept that some people are more equal than others, especially the rich.

Nah. Putin will come here where it’s warm. They’ll have a sleepover in the oval office where Vlad will paint Donnie’s face bronze while recounting stories about how gravity is a huge cause of death in Russia.

What makes you think this is over?

This is exactly what you’d expect if the judge wants to sentence Trump to jail. He can’t do it now, it would be immediately overturned by the SCOTUS.

So he has no choice but to wait until 2029 (or possibly sooner, in the unlikely event that Trump is impeached again).

Of course they do. To name just one example, in Bush v Gore the SCOTUS overturned a ruling made by the Florida Supreme Court.

Unless someone keeps appealing to a higher court and non along the way reject it, you can always reach the supreme court.

Trump can’t get impeached until 2027 at the soonest because of the Republican controlled House.

Even then, the Senate will prevent his removal.

As I said, he’s unlikely to be impeached. But it’s not impossible, if his deport+tariff plan sparks a Depression scale stock market crash and his popularity plummets. In that case, the oligarchs and populists of the GOP might agree they prefer Vance.
