    Because sometimes a more specific community is better for certain things than a broad sweeping community.

      Indeed, but then should we have a community for Amazon Prime, Max, Peacock, etc. ?

      There is a balance between too generic communities and overspecialized communities. The activity on [email protected] seems to indicate that having one community is enough

          Because the current Lemmy userbase can only sustain a certain level of community specialization.

          People are not going to subscribe to 5 different communities to talk about TV shows.

          Cooking communities consolidated a while ago

          Until such time that Lemmy’s user growth is at a point that it can support some of the smaller, niche cooking communities, these communities will be locked.

        I agree. We first need to get the broader communities with activity before they can branch out. If things are too spread out, it will limit growth
