If that person didn’t either drive over or move cones and signs, it’s the construction crew’s fault, not theirs.

They allied this stuff to my street. They just applied it and said it only needs 15 minutes to dry and I was clear to go. I said well I won’t risk it I’ll go to the store for a few min. I came back an additional 15 min later and left similar tracks to my house.

Either the worker was an idiot or they prepared the material wrong. Either way at least I went slow enough to not get splatter.

Yeah, this is a facepalm on the construction company. I don’t think I have ever seen a road like that done all at once in both sides. Especially in a residential area.

On top of that cones/signs do not seem to be anywhere in sight.

At the end of the video, you can see the tracks come from around the bend. Can’t see the end of the street so we don’t know if there’s cones or signs at the intersection

True but when the camera pans around you can see what aplears to be construction vehicle and also no cones or signs.

There should be cones/signs on both ends of construction.

It does look like they have a flagger from the shadow. Still, if there’s no cones or signs that not good enough. Also to my previous point, they shouldn’t be doing whole ass sections of road like that. It should be split and driveways should be coned off to prevent this from happening.

When my street gets done the community lets us all know.

They put signage at the entrance to the community.

            We get letters.

            They knock on doors.

They absolutely do NOT put cones in front of each driveway though.

It is usually a “we’re gonna start at X time and be done at Y time so park elsewhere for this period of time.

In suburbia, very similar to this community (except we have trees … god it’s so weird when there are no trees)

There should be signs all down the street on both sides warning about parking and driveway access from x time to y time as well. I see nothing.

Maybe I’m just a dumb Australian but what are they doing exactly? Painting a street? Why? Is it purely decorative or is there some functional purpose eg “seals the surface so ice during winter doesn’t crack it”

Applying sealer to asphalt every few years extends how long the asphalt lasts before it has to be replaced.

Thanks. I can see how our Australian tradition of letting roads just go to shit confused me.

I guess we don’t really have freeze and thaw cycles. Only hot and even hotter cycles.

I just think it’s a thin layer of tarmac? Maybe to smooth out the road more and reduce noise.

Spent a summer doing that work. Shit is nasty. I had a 5g bottle of acetone and had to scrub for 30 minutes every evening.
