So much this. I’ve completely forgotten about this issue since I’ve installed that extension.

Decq@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•We did the math on AI’s energy footprint. Here’s the story you haven’t heard.English61·13 hours agoWhat stone did you live under? The huge power consumption of crypto was often debated. You just don’t hear too much about it because people don’t really talk about crypto much anymore. Now it’s mostly just people pro crypto who discuss it. And obviously they tend to talk leas about the downsides.

Decq@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft is putting AI actions into the Windows File ExplorerEnglish1·16 hours agoJust get lutris and I expect it works just fine. Worked fine for overwatch, so i expect WoW too.
But you’re right, launchers are usually the biggest issue when its comes to compatibility. Especially that completely useless piece of shit Rockstar peddles.
I rather run everything in third party apps than deal with Windows again,. But each his own of course.
Decq@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft is putting AI actions into the Windows File ExplorerEnglish2·16 hours agoProton is so good that often games run better with Proton than native too. Usually because the developer puts little effort in the linux native version. Proton is such a godsend.
This gets downvoted but it hits the truth, though maybe in macaber way.
Why do we blame cats for killing wildlife while its ok for humans to pave huge pieces of land with concrete and brick or kill biodiversity with pesticides and farm equipment? Maybe humans are the problems, not cats? Or is everyone here living off the grid, does not own a car and produces their own food? Ah and if you have kids you have no argument at all.
Decq@lemmy.worldto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Micro$oft when I try to enjoy my local drive in peaC:\2·2 days agoNever found remmina to be laggy but never tried with 3 monitors. Still sounds better than what I had to do when i had to work from home a few years ago. I had to run a windows vm, to log in to citrix at work (didn’t work directly in Linux for me then) to then remote desktop into servers and work in emacs there. It was virtualization hell. It worked but oh boy was everything laggy… Should have gone one deeper and ran my linux on a hypervisor for a true beauty of a setup.
Eh that’s regional still, like in dutch we’ve changed the meaning of old imperial words to be equal to metric quantities, though probably used more common by older people. So 1 ons (ounce) = 100g and a pond (pound) is half a kg. But this is mostly used at a butcher. For other stuff we mostly just use the metric nomenclature.
Decq@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•They put A.I. in my truck. It warns me of everything I do wrong verbally. It reports everything to HQ. It is from a company called Solera. I take offense to this. Am I wrong? What can I do? Anything?482·3 days agoAre you paid by the hour or per delivery? If by hour, malicious compliance. Stay 5mph below speed limit because you don’t want to be flagged. AI doesn’t recognize the street as such? Take a long detour, it didn’t allow me to take that route. It complains about overtaking? Never overtake ever again someone was to close to the truck when you tried to back in? Never back in again unless the premises is completely clear of people. Oh and find a better employer. An employer that doesn’t trusts its employees is never worth it.
Decq@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do movies always get wrong about your job/hobby?3·4 days agoTo be honest whenever you take the seat instead of the intended user, you probably already fixed 75% of the problem. So just taking a look does fix many problems right away.
I really don’t like this kind of stuff… I became part of a company(through acquisition) that would do the evaluation through a buddy/mentor. So you had to write your 3 goals of the next year, etc… and your buddy would present them in an open meeting (all mentors were there). The first ‘evaluation’ i only wrote as my goal, to look for another job. My poor buddy didn’t enjoy that, neither did my boss apparently. Yet still to this day i never spoke with that supposed to be boss…
How they would ever think evaluations hold any value when they are disconnected and open to everyone that’s invited to the meeting is beyond me. I guess it was just basically so your buddy had to tell you you didn’t get a raise and you couldn’t even ask why not, because he wouldn’t know.

If you can’t figure out how to build a tent (in the dark or not), camping clearly is not for you, or anything that requires the mental capability of an adult for that matter. That shit really is not hard.
The ease of reinstalling is not the main selling point. That’s just one of the (imho many) benefits of having a declarative reproducible configuration.
Many people balk at the nix language, which i think isn’t that hard to learn, But having to learn just one language/syntax instead of knowing each different application’s config syntax is a huge plus for me. Plus you basically get a preprocessor for all configs, which certainly is nice.
Now if you’re not a software developer i can see why that would still be a roadblock. But honestly for a pretty straight forward setup, most of it you can just find on the wiki or other places.

How do you sit through it without ripping your ears off? I cant stand listening to the guy. Even a toddler sounds more cohesive… The moment I hear his voice I feel like my brain just killed a million brain cells out of protest.
How does anyone with an IQ above 70 not know this?? Are these billboards really necessary? What do they think tariffs are if not for a tax?
I really don’t understand how this is still not the standard everywhere… The cheapest ones aren’t even that expensive and already way better than the alternative… Don’t think I’ve not showered with one of these in the last 25 years, except for in some kind of social housing projects homes.

The answer is simple. If you’re exploiting people you’re doing capitalism right. It’s the American dream.
