Was this… made with AI? I thought it was a signature above the last ellipses, but it looks like another word was half-generated, and some letters have the same generative effects around them.

L7HM77@sh.itjust.worksto iiiiiiitttttttttttt@programming.dev•Assembling the computer :)English5·11 days agoThere was a video I watched several years ago, no idea how to find it again, where this guy fucked up a motherboard / CPU with thermal paste to see if you actually can add ‘too much paste.’ Directly underneath the pins, wayyy too much on top, extra around the socket for good measure, smashed it all together, and the thing just… boots normally…
Kinda makes sense tho, every tube of paste I’ve used was marked as nonconductive, and the CPU socket should be designed such that carbon buildup is scraped from the pins when reseating, which would clear away the paste and allow good contact.

L7HM77@sh.itjust.worksto Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•What If We Made Advertising Illegal?English2·2 months agoAll businesses would fail if they don’t evolve from the current structure.
A new ecosystem would arise, and if it’s held stable long enough, it would become the new norm.
It’s kinda like how news stations report on minimum wages in the US, “if we increase minimum wages, X% of small businesses will fail.” I try to single out and avoid businesses that operate that way, because the workers are miserable from the low pay, me as the consumer is miserable from the poor customer service, and the owner is miserable because he isn’t taking home ‘enough’ money, even though the business is net positive cash flow.
Propping up the inefficient practices is holding everything back, if they’re pruned then new growth can take hold, and form new standards.

Let the customers start sitting 30 minutes before the movie start time, play all the commercials and theater brand promos, then start the movie AT the start time. Everyone wins
Quick edit: Nothing even needs to be changed! Just adjust the start time!
Just 3 IMO, because 1 is only an anomaly, 2 is just coincidence.
But 3 is a pattern, then behavior will adjust.
Friendly reminder that ‘nugget’ is only two minor typos from being quite offensive.

I wonder if an adnauseam approach could help. Instead of the customer relying on the carrier or manually blocking spam numbers, if everyone picked up every spam call, goes through the automated system to reach a person, says “hello?”, then mutes the mic and lets the human stick around until they hang up.
Sure, they have robocallers that can hit 50,000 numbers a minute, but what happens when every single number answers and gets routed to the humans?
