Sunday, August 18, 2024: Sunday Vacation Shave
I shaved, but somehow didn’t find to time to post my shaves. The bad weather today may have helped. Anyways, slight irritation (maybe because I had already shaved yesterday). The brush is not bad, but the rest of the setup does not shine in sparking joy.

It’s cheap and available through Amazon - that’s the most positive things I can say about it 🤷
Oh, and the brush is winning me over.
If my memory serves me well, your brush is still nowhere near being broken in. It may suck less, but it hasn’t revealed its final form.
The base has a tendency to get fluffy-but this might be a side-effect of me avoiding to really work the lather on my face. Slickness is not the best.
I got used to the scent, even though I didn’t like it at first.
But I have got either sunburn under my jawline, or irritation, froo the soap 👀
I don’t have many fougères, so it’s not rea!ly comparable to anything else I have. The scent is nice, but either too strong, or I’m reacting to an ingredient. And the base, while doing its job, is not comparable to modern artisan soaps.
TLDR: Wouldn’t recommend.

Monday, August 12, 2024: Finally a post!
Despite my lack of SOTD posts, I’m not dead (yet). I had some trouble finding time for posting here, between my relocations and a car breakdown (yay!). I have no idea how many shaves this blade has already seen, but the printing is not yet very washed out, so I would guess less than 20. And good news: no frag burn so far with Amber Fougère!

The SOC boars are very backbony, but after 50 uses, you will see that it’s one of the best boars around. It has a very different feel from the Zenith, though.
Sunday, August 4, 2024: Austerity - Living Off the Land
This is actually the second shave in my living off the land challenge, but I didn’t find the time to post my shave yesterday. The KC Gillette is a very mild razor, and combined with an old blade, the result doesn’t hold very long (even though immediately after shaving, it is ok). Haslinger’s Algae is slightly drying, but it gets its job done.

Thursday, August 1, 2024: Last Comfort Shave
This is the last shave before we leave for vacation. I took out the material I am most comfortable with, before I will engage is austerity of a different sort from the AA challenges. I got a very good and close shave.

Tuesday, July 30, 2024: Summer Whine
It’s extremely hot today – 36 degrees 🥵 🥵 , and we may be getting thunderstorms in the evening. Refreshment is badly needed! In our flat, we had everything closed the whole day, but we’re still above 28 degrees. I had trouble working today, because focusing in this heat is not obvious.
While shaving, I was listening to the original Summer Wine, but there’s also the cover version by Alex Kapranos.
Tuesday, August 20, 2024: Last Day of Vacation
Tomorrow, we’ll be heading back home – time to say good bye (for a moment) to Amber Fougère. I should be posting more seriously from tomorrow on.
