Molotov-Ribbentrop only happened because the Allies refused to work with the Soviets in crushing the Nazis before they could act. It was a defensive compromise.

Possibly not your intention, but this sounds dangerous close to being racist.
0·4 months agoHow many citizens of AES countries have you spoken to to inform this opinion of yours? How many times have you interacted with AES cops even? If its zero, then you’re just some foreigner applying foreign principles to places that you don’t know or understand.
I can recognise bad aspects of AES countries but the existence of police isn’t one of them.
Cops in AES serve the state. The exists to subdue enemies and dangers to the socialist state and society. To think that society can just tick on without them is utopian nonsense.
In my experience, cops in AES countries are a trusted and respected institution. I’m trusting the judgement of those who live with them over some American idealist who never has.
The police doesn’t “de-escalate”, the police comes and beats people up and throws them in prison.
Simply isn’t true of any cops I’ve encountered in AES countries. You can’t apply Amerikan scenarios to the rest of the world.

Well then it is a coverup.
Attitudes now are the same as anywhere, but China’s specific situation is unique. They went from the tightest covid restrictions in the world to “what’s covid?” practically overnight. Literally they closed testing infrastructure and let the majority of the population catch covid in the space of about 6 weeks. Other countries took years to go through the same thing, while maintaining testing and counting (to varying extents obviously) throughout.
Again, I don’t think it’s a “coverup”, I think they legitimately don’t know the stats because they stopped testing entirely. It’s a big country, a million people can die and its not going to be noticeable on the ground, I sincerely don’t see why the Chinese and western death estimates I linked above are so implausible?
I think that’s horrifyingly normal honestly. I can still remember jingles from adverts from my childhood that I haven’t seen in decades. It’s really insidious.
