There’s a shockingly large, beautiful one in my hometown of Pearland, Texas - the Sri Meenakshi Temple.
It was only the third Hindu temple built in America, and, at least when it was built, it was the only Meenakshi temple outside of India. It’s still a venue for high-profile Hindu weddings.
When it was built, Pearland was a mostly-rural community with a population of about 10,000 (2020 census is around 120,000), and they built this phenomenal temple in the middle of nowhere on McLean road.

At least with ads, 60% goes to the creator and 40% to YouTube. I had a video go viral because it was newsworthy, and a CDN (Storyful) offered to help with licensing and marketing, and their price was 40% of my 60%. I wasn’t really expecting the video to go viral, so decided “why not.”
I only got 36% of the money from the YouTube views, but Storyful delivered and got it on the news and a few documentaries and I ended up making thousands of dollars for a few minutes of video. 10/10 would do again, but then YouTube changed the rules and now you need like 1,000 subscribers for your video to even qualify for monetization :(
Last time I went to one (2020), the shelves were 80% empty, and what they had was mostly karaoke machines on consignment sale.
It was super depressing.

As much as I love them, I’d love to see it keep the same tone to attract the crazy conspiracy-theorists, then poison their minds with factual information presented as if it was deep-state conspiracy revealing secret knowledge.
Covid ended any hope I have. We couldn’t get people to put on a fucking mask or get vaccinations when the disease was right in front of us killing millions of people.
There’s absolutely no way we’re gonna get people on board with fighting the climate disaster. Humanity will be lucky if it survives itself.
