I worked with a dude from Syria during the civil war there. The conversation went something like:
Him: Hey fjordmonkey, do you want to hear some middle eastern music?
Me: Sure (was pretty good NGL)
Him: I like middle eastern music, it’s all like “boo hoo everyone is trying to blow up my family. I’m so sad” lol.
Me: Dude, wtf
The place had two other Syrians working there. One spoke Arabic and Norwegian, the other spoke Arabic and English. I could talk to either of them fine but three way conversations weren’t possible without repeating everything we said. But yeah Arabic music is cool.
But I digress I like foraging for mushrooms and berries, fishing, looking for little crabs on rocky beaches, being on the water (but regrettably I don’t have a boat), growing peppers, driving around in the mountains, camping.
Edit: I also like making fancy cakes, but I’m not very good at it.
I’ve mostly been listening to Sami and Inuk music. It goes well with where I live.
