People pull out of informal agreements all the time, it’s not an employer thing - legal issues, real estate, appointments, competition prizes, dates…
After a couple of bad questions, I’ll either excuse myself, suggest we carry on separately, or (ideally) ask to be sent a list, for me to ignore at my leisure.

See, there’s a huge different for me between “people” and “my people” - they can be two separate groups of strangers, but I can tell them apart in seconds.
In the rare times I want to socialise, my quest is to minimise contact with the former and maximize the latter.
It’s also cool to do this with savings pots. When people have a hard time saving, they’ll say things like “what’s the point in saving £10 a month towards X, that’s nothing”. I usually point out the annual figure, since a lot of people don’t think that way.
That said, personally I do this too much, and it can make it hard to spend and too enticing to save. But that’s a different topic…
Yeah, for a fair comparison the standard definition of “active user” is just viewing posts. Not sure why Lemmy sets the bar so high. Maybe they don’t care about vanity stats - besides mild curiosity, I couldn’t care less.
Posting or commenting seems more like “contributing users” and posts like this just encourage unhelpful noise.
