the lawmaker said in a publication on X.

I wish Trump’s opponents stopped communicating on the South African neo-nazi’s platform - ya know, for consistency of the message.

Politicians I think 100% need to still be on twitter. That is where all the people who “So what if I saw twelve animals being tortured and a lot of hardcore pornography in between elon’s rants about racial purity. This is where people are and I am supporting artists by staying here” are. And that is who they need to appeal to.

Artists, companies, social media people, and so forth have absolutely zero excuse to be on the nazi platform.

If everyone did it, sure. The problem is, right now the nazi platform is the centralized platform of communication.

Yes, she can use Bluesky, and reach 1/10th the audience, or she can use mastodon and reach 1/100th the audience.

      So twitter it is.

She is also on bluesky, not sure if she plans on ever leaving twitter completely but it’s a start I guess. As you said, I don’t think fully leaving the platform yet is viable for a politician.

Lemmy’s hate for Musk blinds them to the realpolitik of the situation. Glad she’s on both though!

You say that, but Trump uses his personal “Truth” Social propaganda mouthpiece to communicate, that only has a fraction of Twitter’s userbase, and the media has no trouble picking up what he posts on there.

I contend that AOC is public and followed enough that she could very well post on Bluesky or Mastodon and still get her message across.

Also, if nobody moves out of Twitter, it will never go away. Someone has to start, and AOC is a primae candidate to do so and lead the way.
